Sharon Kay Haferkamp

Sharon Kay Haferkamp, 53, passed away on April 23, 2026, in Greensburg, Pennsylvania. Born on January 29, 1973, Sharon will be deeply missed and forever remembered for the kindness and love she shared with the world.

Sharon was born and raised in Washington County, Texas. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in William Penn.

A gifted student with a passion for science, she graduated with Honors from Brenham High School in 1991 and attended Blinn College, graduating in 1993 with her associates degree. She continued her education at the University of Texas in Austin, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering in 1999. Sharon continued her studies receiving her Master of Science space studies in 2020. She was involved with research and graduate studies at Arizona State University engineering department as well as taking an interest in space studies. Sharon was a life-long learner with an affinity towards ideas, intellectuals and understanding different viewpoints. She also had a curiosity for other cultures and enjoyed traveling. The family would like to express their gratitude to the teachers who helped inspire Sharon to develop her talents.

Sharon is survived by her mother, Karen Gaskamp; her six siblings, Steven (Leigh Ann) Haferkamp, Scott Haferkamp, Sherry (Dan) Watson, Shelly (John) Luedemann, Shelia Haferkamp and Stanley (Julie) Haferkamp, and many nieces and nephews.

The family will be holding a private memorial service to remember her life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that you instead consider a donation to the charity of your choice.
