Richard Lee Hornberger, 79, of Carmine, Texas, unexpectedly passed away on August 12, 2026.

Richard was born on March 5, 1947, in Oklahoma to Ralph and Vera Lee Hornberger. He was a man of few words, but you always knew where you stood with Richard-and you certainly knew if he liked you. He had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed fishing and playing pranks on those around him. Richard was a good man who will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Vera Lee Hornberger; his daughter, Alicia Hornberger; his sister, Susie Baxter; and P.J. Sanders.

Those left to cherish Richard's memory include his children, Richard Hornberger; Jay Hornberger and daughter-in-law, Mary; Mark Wilson; and Jennifer Walker; his brother, Jerry Hornberger and sister-in-law, Linda; his sisters, Vicki Cain and brother-in-law, David; Linda Bennett; and Mahonna Gunnels; and brother-in-law, Shaffer Baxter; along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Memorial Oaks Chapel - Carmine located at 107 Augsburg Avenue, Carmine, Texas.

Richard will be remembered for his quiet nature, good heart, sense of humor, and the memories he made with those who knew and loved him. He will be dearly missed.
