Casey Payton Stephens, 81, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2026 with his loving family by his side. Casey was born on November 14, 1944, in Santa Anna, Texas to Cecil and Fannie (Switzer) Stephens.

Casey was the sixth child of a hardworking and loving family of ten children. He was always good at everything he did. He completed high school 1 year early, and continued his education at the Pipefitters Local Union No. 211 Apprenticeship Program, being top in his class. Casey was placed in a supervisory position at a very young age and was well liked and respected by those he worked for and those he supervised. He enjoyed and was very good at carpentry work, where his skills helped family, friends and his churches. Casey was a Godly man who willingly helped many people during his life.

Each family member has "their special memories" with Casey (or Uncle Payton), whether it was at the family reunions, deer lease, on a job site, or at the river house. Our words cannot tell the whole story of Casey's life, but we know Casey was welcomed into heaven and heard the words of our Lord, "Well done, thy good and faithful servant, well done".

Casey married his true love, Jimmie Heyser in 1963, at the age of 18, and became a father at the birth of their son, James, in 1965. He was a devoted husband and father.

Casey was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Fannie Stephens; his sister, Brenda, at a very early age; his brothers, Dub Stephens and AJ Stephens; and his sisters, Carolyn Crenshaw and Nancy Bolen.

Casey is survived by his loving wife, Jimmie (Heyser) Stephens; his son, James Stephens and wife Sharon; his sister, Maggie Meeks; his sister, Myrna Slansky, and husband T. J.; his brother, John Stephens and wife Vita; his brother, Joe Stephens and wife Alice; his granddaughters, Christie Stephens McCullough and Bobbie Stephens Penberthy and husband, Matt; and his great-grandson, Jackson Penberthy. Casey is also survived by many family members, who he loved and cared for dearly.

A Celebration of Casey's Life will be held at a later date.
