Catherine Spruill Gardiner, 103, of Chappell Hill, Texas, went to be with her precious Lord Jesus on August 14, 2026. Catherine was born on April 24, 1923, in Creswell, North Carolina to Haywood and Ella (Ainsley) Spruill.

Catherine graduated from High School in 1940 in Columbia, North Carolina. She attended Hampton Business School. Worked during World War II at the Port of Embarkation in Virginia where she met the love of her life, Robert Gardiner II. Robert was working for NACA, the predecessor of NASA, at Langley Field. As Robert's career progressed she moved with him from Virginia to Gates Mills, Ohio and then to Friendswood, Texas and finally Brenham where the couple retired.

Catherine is preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Robert Gardiner II, her parents; Haywood and Ella Spruill and her sisters; Dorothy Erekson, Marjorie Sanderson and Betty Clifton, her brothers; Haywood and Darrell Spruill.

Catherine is lovingly survived by her children; Robert Gardiner III and his wife Sangie and Patricia Gardiner Hoffmaster, her grandsons; Jacob and Joshua Gardiner and her favorite niece Deborah Babb.

A visitation for Catherine will be held on Friday, August 28, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Memorial Oaks Chapel located at 1306 West Main Street, Brenham, Texas. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 10:30 am at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Phillipsburg located at 2739 Phillipsburg Church Road, Brenham , Texas with Pastor Mark Neumann officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be: Jacob Gardiner, Joshua Gardiner, Bill Gillespie, John Gillespie and Warren Gillespie and Robert Gardiner II.
