Joann "Jody" (Ramsower) Clough of Chappell Hill, Texas, passed away on August 9,2026.

Born on December 17, 1935 to George and Irene Ramsower in Beeville Texas, Jody weighed only 4 pounds. She had three brothers, Ryan, Mark Alvin, Earl and one sister Irene. Jody was the first one in the family to be born in a hospital. She grew up on the family farm in Mathis Texas, and attended San Marcos Baptist Academy, and the University of Texas, where she participated in campus life and formed friendships that remained part of her story throughout her life. She was a true debutant, and was on track to become a concert piano player prior to having three rambunctious children. During the “raising children” phase of her life she primarily lived in California, and later moved Houston, Texas. Jody met Robert (Bob) Clough in 1980 and they married in 1981. The two of them moved to Chappell Hill in the 1990s where Jody said were amongst the happiest days of her life.

Jody’s Christian faith was a steady foundation throughout her life. She and Bob were members of three churches during their time living in Chappell Hill: Brenham Presbyterian Church, St. Peters Episcopal Church and First Baptist Chappell Hill. Jody’s character was defined by three characteristics: resilience, empathy for others and forgiveness.

Above all, Jody treasured her family. She was a dedicated and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, whose greatest joy came from bringing them all together in her home. One of her favorite memories is when the grandkids came out to Chappell Hill and decorated the old red Ford pickup for the Chappell Hill Fourth of July parade. Other memories were the creation of Fort Bluebonnet in their backyard: a fort made of sticks and weeds by her grandchildren. She enjoyed sitting on her back deck with coffee looking at the birds and her rose garden. Jody loved nature and especially hummingbirds and cardinals.

Jody was a member of the Bluebonnet Garden Club for over twenty years. She was Program Chair at one time which she loved. She also was in a bunco club in Chappell Hill for over twenty years. Jody was an avid bridge player, learning how to play when she was in her twenties. Bridge was a lifelong passion and she had bridge groups in Chappell Hill, Bellville and Kruse Village. She and Bob were members of the Chappell Hill Historical Society and attended the Christmas Gala every year.

Throughout her life, she was proud of her work of 40 years in real estate and created her own Real Estate Company. She had an extraordinary work ethic. For Jody, business was never simply about houses and property. It was about people, relationships, and helping others begin new chapters of their own lives and find their own resilience. She not only built a successful career but made many friends along the way.

Though she will be deeply missed, her family takes comfort in the many beautiful memories she leaves behind. Her love, laughter, wisdom, determination, and strength will continue to live on in everyone fortunate enough to have known her. To honor Jody, try to follow Christ and embrace resilience in life’s challenges, have empathy for others no matter their station in life, and forgive and forget.

Her motto was “FROG” – Fully Rely On GOD – and she loved frogs !

She is survived by her children Robin Harris and husband Scott of Heber Springs, Arkansas, Steven Johnson of Rancho Palos Verdes, California, and Pamela Waldren and husband George of Chappell Hill and Sandra Zoppe of Pasadena Texas. Also, her grandchildren Jennifer Larsen and husband Tim, Jody Bender and husband Matt, George Charles Waldren, Laura King and husband Kyle, Richard Waldren, Stephanie Sandoval and husband Sesar, Eric Johnson, and 8 great grandchildren.

The funeral service for Joann “Jody” Clough will be held 10:00 am Saturday, August 22, 2026 at First Baptist Church of Chappell Hill, Texas. Pastors Mike Habermehl and Joshua Sharp will officiate. Burial will follow in Masonic Cemetery in Chappell Hill.
