John Dawes Wessinger, 49, of Brenham, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on August 26, 2026.
John was born on December 21, 1976, in Brenham, Texas, to Johnnie and Lennie (Hanks) Wessinger Gano. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Brenham.
John lived life with a love for the outdoors, music, and, most importantly, his family. He enjoyed listening to country, rock and roll, and alternative music. He loved fishing and hunting, riding dirt bikes and ATVs, and spending time mudding. He also enjoyed a cold beer and good times with the people he loved.
Above all, John treasured his family. He especially cherished the time he spent with his wife, daughters, and his beloved granddaughters. He was incredibly proud of all his girls and took great joy in watching them grow and make their own memories. John and Lori were married on June 21, 2022, and shared a special bond built on love, family, and companionship.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie and Lennie Wessinger Jr.; his grandparents, Norma Jean and Elmore Hanks and Johnnie and Estella Wessinger Sr.; his brothers, Jeffrey Wessinger, Rusty Wessinger; his sister, Beth Wessinger Conklin; and his sister-in-law, Linda Wessinger.
John's memory will forever be cherished by his loving wife, Lori Wessinger; his daughters, Kayla Wessinger and her fiancé, Jamarcus Fisher, Makenna Wessinger, and stepdaughter Taylor Sherrouse; his sister, Jaime and her husband, Victor Kuykendoll; his brother-in-law, Rodney Conklin; his beloved grandchildren, Ava and Brooklyn Fisher; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who were blessed to know him.
A Celebration of Life honoring John will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at Prairie Hill Rocky Hill VFD from 2 to 6pm.
Special recognition is given to those who would have served as pallbearers: Adam Branton, Eric Wessinger, Jamarcus Fisher, Tim Seiden, Jason Paramore, Jason Wagner, Eric Dieterich, and Taylor Larson.
Honorary pallbearers are Kayla Wessinger, Makenna Wessinger, Ava and Brooklyn Fisher, Taylor Sherrouse, Jaime Kuykendoll, Shannon Seiden, Holly Jurica, Larissa Dieterich, Rodney Conklin, Victor Kuykendoll, Paula Sherrouse, Wyatt Seiden, Sarah Fakhri, Tres Stuart, Bonnie Hurst and Rich Gano.
