Mary Ellermann

November 15, 1935 — November 30, 2021

Mary Ann Owens Ellermann was called to her heavenly home on November 30, 2021. After a
five-year battle with diabetes, dementia and COPD, Mary Ann contracted COVID which attacked these
underlying conditions and weakened her body for the last few months of her life.

Mary Ann was born on November 15, 1935 in Putnam County, Georgia to Frank and Bernice
Owens. She was baptized into First Methodist Church in Shady Dale. Mary Ann grew up in Eatonton,
Georgia and graduated from Monticello High School where she excelled in basketball. She then attended
Southern Business University in Atlanta. Mary Ann met her life partner of 66 years, Roger Ellermann,
while he was serving in the U.S. Army in Georgia. Their honeymoon was moving back to Texas and
Roger's hometown of Brenham. Once settled in Brenham, Mary Ann worked as a secretary for Brenham
Wholesale Grocery until 1972. She later moved on to work with Roger when they opened True Value
Farm and Home Center. They had two children, Rallin Ellermann and Regina Ellermann Holtkamp.

Mary Ann was active in all the activities her children participated in and also in her church
membership with St Matthew Lutheran Church of Sandy Hill. Mary Ann was known for her love of
playing cards, fishing, nurturing plants, and enjoying trips to Louisiana. She truly loved entertaining.
Those holiday gatherings were always enjoyed with her beautiful decorations, festive dinnerware and
abundant plates of desserts. Mary Ann's granddaughters fondly remember those all-girl sleepovers, the
pageants dressing up in Grandma's clothes and dancing with Grandma to Michael Jackson, even though
they knew she truly preferred Tom Jones. Their favorite cherished memory is of their rides in the wood
grain Wagoneer when Grandma would buy them candy cigarettes and down the road they would go.

Mary Ann had many titles, but "Georgia Peach", "Shoog", "Momma", "Grandma" and "Ginny"
were the ones she loved most. Mary Ann was definitely special and always a source of family fun.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents; her in-laws, Raymond and Tillie Ellermann; her
brother, George Owens; and her son, Rallin Ellermann.

Mary Ann is survived by her husband, Roger; her daughter, Regina Ellermann Holtkamp and
husband Don; her daughter-in-law, Dalene Ellermann Pearson and husband Roger; her granddaughters,
Stephanie Holtkamp Koehler and husband Chris; Johanna Holtkamp Becker and husband Blake, Ranell
Ellermann Riddle and husband Justin; Robin Ellermann Hubbard and husband Cade; and Jordan
Pearson.

Mary Ann leaves behind her 7 great grandchildren blessings; Kannon Koehler, Knowles Koehler,
Wyatt Rew, Ryan Diehl, Jones Riddle, Judd Riddle and Jax Riddle. They lovingly called her "Ginny".

Many thanks and great love are given to Mary Ann's earthly angels, Dollean Steptoe, Rose
Newsome, Debra Mann, and Carolyn Coleman. They cared for Mary Ann as if she was family and treated
her always with love and respect. Amedisys Hospice kept Mary Ann comfortable and provided her with
constant care. Mary Ann will anxiously await the next round of pitch with her weekly pitch partners,
Mike and Brenda Budell.

Visitation will be at Memorial Oaks from 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., Friday, December 3, 2021. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 4, 2021 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Sandy Hill with Rev. Kris Brower officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Bobby Branham, Doyle Wieghat and Mike Budell. Honorary pallbearers will be Cade Hubbard, Justin Riddle, Mary Ann's earthly angel sitters, Amedisys Staff, and her great-grandchildren.
