Martha Veith

Houston

Martha Elizabeth Veith, 87, passed away December 1, 2021 in Houston, Texas.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Friday, December, 10, 2021 at Hills Cemetery, Round Top, Texas. Deacon Steve Medina will be officiating. Visitation will be held from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at Memorial Oaks Chapel.

Martha was born in The Czech Republic on August 19, 1934 to Rudolf and Theresie Bischof. She was united in marriage on December 24, 1959 to Edward C. Veith.

Martha loved Mother Nature. She moved to Cypress near Houston when her husband passed away. She loved sitting in her backyard and watching the birds and squirrels feeding on the feeders and running around. She loved visiting nurseries and getting plants for her yard, particularly hanging baskets for her back yard. She worked for J. C. Penney in Brenham, TX. for many years, and once retired she had a wonderful group of ladies that she would meet and have lunch with once a month. She really enjoyed visiting with them. Above all this, she really loved her home in Round Top that she shared with her husband.  They had a beautiful place there and spent a lot of time working around their property and creating a wonderful country home. She had a good eye for decorating.  She loved getting together with her family for a celebration or just a meal. She loved her cruise to Alaska for her 80TH birthday and wanted all of us to do it again for her 90th. She loved Germany, the country she grew up in and where   her family still lives today. She spoke with a German accent and her home was a reflection of where she came from.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Gerhard Veith and Liz Strauss of Austin, TX, daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Steve Burdett, of Houston, TX., Linda and Jeff Chavez of Spring, TX.; brothers Hans Bischof and Friedl Bischof of Germany; grandchildren, Renee McGee, Jason Veith, Marcus Sutton, and Chelsea Sutton; great- grandchild, Harper McGee. She is preceded in death by her husband, Edward C. Veith and brother, Otto Bischof.
