Flachmeier and on March 26, 1950 Laura married Ernest Fieseler at St. James Lutheran Church of New Wehdem by her uncle, Pastor H.W. Dannhaus.

Laura is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Fieseler, parents, Edward and Lillian (Lehmann) Dannhaus, parents-in-law, Ernest and Minnie Fieseler, brothers Bernard Dannhaus and Waldo Dannhaus, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Leroy and Margaret Fieseler of Ft. Laura grew up with a large loving family on the family farm. She was a loving wife, mother, “Memo” to Heather and Ross and “Great Memo” to her 2 special great grandchildren, Lila and Reid. She was very proud of her family and their accomplishments. She kept an immaculate home and had an impressive collection of ceramic birds and angels.

Laura is best described as a caretaker. As the oldest in the family, she helped take care of her younger siblings and her grandparents who lived in the family home. She loved her career as an LVN for several years and also took care of many ill and aging family members. She was a wonderful caregiver for her husband during his battle with cancer and a loving mother and grandmother who was always there when needed to lend a helping hand. She especially enjoyed her many years as a volunteer for the Senior Center in Brenham. Laura used the talents that God gave her to the fullest during her life.

Laura was a person of great Faith by always attending Sunday School even as an adult and she held various positions in her church, St. James of New Wehdem, such as Funeral Committee chairman and Memorial Committee chairman for many years. She sang in the church choir and faithfully studied her Bible, often leading the bible study for the Womens bible study group.

She retired from Southwestern Bell telephone company in 1980. Upon retirement she always enjoyed having a beautiful yard and took pride in her roses every year. She most definitely had a green thumb as you could always give her an almost dead plant and she would always bring it back to life. She especially enjoyed watching and feeding the birds that visited her yard and always said, “if God takes care of these helpless creatures, He will surely take care of us.” She also enjoyed attending the Bluebonnet Opry, watching the Astros on tv, and phone conversations with family and friends.

Her funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 28, 2021 at St. James Lutheran Church with burial at Prairie Lea Cemetery. Visitation will be at Memorial Oaks Chapel on Thursday, May 27, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Honorary pallbearers are her grandchildren and their spouses, staff and former co-volunteers at the Senior Center, and former co-workers of Southwestern Bell Telephone co.

The family wishes to thank her many loving caregivers, especially Verniece Smith. Memorials may be directed to St. James Lutheran Church, New Wehdem, Texas or a charity of your choice.
