Benny was born on March 21, 1946 in Somerville to parents Jose Guadalupe Gonzales and Sotera Oliva Gonzales. He grew up in a large family with four brothers and seven sisters. Benny graduated from Somerville High School. Shortly afterwards, he was drafted to the US Army in 1966. He was deployed to Germany. After he was honorably discharged in 1968, he returned home to Somerville. He was married to Mary Flores, the love of his life, and they started a family together. They were blessed with six daughters, many grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

Benny loved to be outdoors working with his hands. He loved cutting grass, building projects, working in the shed, and building birdhouses. He was full of character and always had a great sense of humor. He picked on those he loved and showed affection by calling everyone “a big dummy.” He loved driving around in his favorite cars and trucks listening to oldies.
Benny is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Mary; daughters Patricia, Annie, Sonia, Hope, Sissy, and Benita, (including son in laws: Terry, Stephen, Steven, Anthony, and Jacob) grandkids Vanessa, PJ, Terry Jr., Kayla, Joe, Emma, Lia, Stephen, Nari, Benjamin, Nicholas, Daniella and Daniel; and great-grandchildren Maci and Mya and granddog Nemo.
