Johnnie Henry Kubeczka, 76, of Brenham and the husband of Ruby Heidemann Kubeczka, passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2017 while sleeping peacefully at his home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday Sept 26, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brenham with Msgr. Benedict Zientek officiating with burial to follow in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends and relatives on Monday Sept. 25, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel.

Johnnie was born on November 30, 1940 at home in Chappell Hill, TX. to John T. and Catherine (Michalejeski) Kubeczka. He was baptized December 2, 1940 at St. Stanislaus in Chappell Hill, TX. He received his first communion and was confirmed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Brenham where he remained a faithful member until his death. He attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and later moved to Houston where he held numerous jobs. He met the love of his life, Ruby at the Carmine Dance Hall and soon after, on February 24, 1962 they were married at St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Brenham. He always said he knew he was going to marry her the moment he laid eyes on her. Due to health related issues, he retired from Tubular Finishing Works in Navasota after 25 years of service.

Johnnie greatly enjoyed the outdoors. He especially loved to fish and work on his small farm raising ducks, chickens, rabbits, and a few cows. And even more so, he enjoyed sharing the fruits of his labors with those he loved. Johnnie never showed up empty handed. When he came to visit, you could always expect a fresh chicken or a dozen of eggs. He was also very talented in the kitchen making his homemade sausage, oatmeal cookies and his special Christmas candy. When not tending his farm or working in the kitchen, he loved playing dominoes and pitch. He was also an amazing polka and waltz dancer. He especially loved “The Chappell Hill Special” and “Matilda”. But more than anything, he loved spending time with his family. For the last twenty-seven years he was best known as “Pa.” His grandchildren and great grandchild were his pride and joy. He would light up whenever they came to visit.

Johnnie was a gentle, humble and kind man who always taught his children to trust in the Good Lord. His peaceful passing from this world is how he had hoped he would one day meet Jesus.

His loving family includes: Ruby Heidemann Kubeczka, son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Veronica Kubeczka, daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Kip Crenshaw, daughter and son-in-law Audrau and Lane Winkelmann, grandsons, Kyler Crenshaw (and wife Kelsey), Colin Crenshaw, granddaughters, Emma and Ella Winkelmann, and great grandson, Riley John Crenshaw.

Other surviving relatives include: Brother and sister-in-law, Antone and Carolyn Kubeczka, Sisters-in-law, Harriet Grebe, Janet Mills, and Glendeen Roemer, and Brother-in-law, Louis Heidemann as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mother and Father in-law, Otto and Esther Heidemann, brothers, Mike, Harry and Alois Kubeczka, sisters, Agnes, Stella and husband Louis Kmeic, Sophie and husband Leon Levandowski, Sarah and husband Leonard Dismukes, Caroline and husband Buster Heise, brothers-in-law Otto Heidemann, Jr., Nelson Roemer, Clarence (Buck) Mills and special uncle and friend, Walter Heidemann.
