Will Meischen

Will Louis Meischen, 83, of Cypress, TX, died on February 23, 2022.

A visitation will be held from 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., Monday, February 28, 2022 at Memorial Oaks Chapel with the family present from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at St. James Lutheran Church of New Wehdem with Pastor Evan Cameron officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Will was born on February 13, 1939 in Shelby, TX to Arthur and Alice Mae Voelkel Meischen. He was baptized on September 27, 1939 and confirmed on April 18, 1954. He graduated Bellville High School and Blinn College. He married his wife, Betty Tiemann, on June 5, 1960 at New Wehdem Lutheran Church. He worked as a sales representative for NuTone. He served in the National Guard.

Will enjoyed cutting firewood, working with his chainsaw, bar-b-queuing, fishing, deer hunting, playing dominoes, drinking beer with his friends, and working in his vegetable garden, especially when he grew tomatoes. He loved football, baseball, and Shiner Beer.

Will is survived by his wife, Betty Meischen of Cypress, TX; sons and daughters-in-law, Blake and Angie Meischen of Cypress, TX, and Scott and Nita Meischen of New Ulm, TX; brother and sister-in-law, Allyn and Lille Mae Mesischen of Houston, TX; sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Butch Deininger of Washington, IL; grandchildren, Dalton Meischen, Tyler Meischen, Sarah Currie, Jordan Meischen, Lacey Liebscher, Morgan Reynolds, and Carrie Kilpatrick; and great-granddaughter, Aubrey Reynolds.

He is preceded in death by his mom and dad, Arthur and Alice Mae Meischen.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Dalton Meischen, Tyler Meischen, Kyle Liebscher, JC Cambell, Lenny Krause, Marshall Shepherd, Mark Schmidt, and Tom Currie. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Bud Schmidt, Allen “Fuzz” Wieneke, Oscar Voelkel, Allyn Meischen, and Bubba Gordon.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to St. James Lutheran Church of New Wehdem.
