Victor Arlitt

Victor Bruno Arlitt age 96, died peacefully on June 17, 2021 at the long-term care unit of Kruse Village in Brenham, Texas. Victor was born on October 29, 1924 in Orange Grove, Texas.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Monday June 21 at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Matthew Jacob and Willian Holza officiating.  Burial will follow at Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham with military honors.

There will be a visitation at Memorial Oaks Chapel on Sunday June 20, 2021 from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm with a devotion at 6:00 p.m.

Victor was born on October 29, 1924 in Orange Grove, Texas to Bruno Arlitt and Emma Roth.  He was baptized on April 29, 1928, and on April 16, 1950, married his late wife Dorothy Jo ‘Dot’ Cathey Arlitt.

Victor was raised on a farm west of Fredericksburg along with 1 brother and 4 sisters.  He diligently served in the Philippines during WWII as a Sergeant Rifleman and Squad Leader with the 341st Infantry where he participated in the liberation of Luzon, Philippine Islands.

Upon his return home, he attended a technical school in Ft. Worth, riding his Indian motorcycle to and from.  Shortly after taking his first job in Hamilton, TX, he met the love of his life, Dot, the popcorn girl at the local theater.  They were married in Hamilton in 1950 and shared a very blessed life together for 68 years.

Shortly thereafter they moved to Brenham where he became an appliance repairman for Schleider Furniture & Appliance.  Seven years later, he joined Brenham Electric Motor Service where he eventually became owner and spent the rest of his career building a thriving business with a great team of people.  His handshake on any business agreement was as good as gold.

He was a devoted Christian and family man.  He loved his family and friends with whom he enjoyed life to the fullest.  From buck hunting and fly fishing to playing cards and dominos, he loved to laugh and have fun with his friends.  He and Dot enjoyed traveling, dancing and great food regularly together with good friends, always looking for a reason to start a hot game of pitch or sometimes bridge.  He also enjoyed his many pecan trees and kept everyone supplied with great tasting pecans.  He generally loved life and wanted to share it with others.

He served the community in many ways through the Noon Lions Club, Little League baseball coaching and many other ways.

The family is grateful to all of those at Hospice Brazos Valley, Kruse Village and his private caregivers, especially Deborah Brittain, for their loving care, support and many games of dominos in Victor’s last few years with us.

When God decided to call him home early on the morning of June 17th, he was peacefully awaiting . . . as he was always an early ‘Riser’!

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law Mike and Chris Arlitt, Mark and Allison Arlitt; sister Lillie Mae Eisner; and grandchildren Ryan and Si-Hui, Niki, Alex, Austin and Adam Arlitt.

Memorials may be directed to Hospice Brazos Valley or Margaret E. Blizzard Senior Activity Center.
