Suzanne Chalmers

September 10, 1949 — January 1, 2021

Suzanne Barttlingck Chalmers, age 71, passed away on January 1, 2021 in Brenham, TX.

Sue was born on September 10, 1949 in Houston, TX to Frederick William Jr. and Daphne Irene Davenport Barttlingck.

She graduated from Waltrip High School in 1968 and shortly after started working at Southwestern Bell Telephone.  Sue worked for SWBT for 39 years until she retired in 2007.  During that time, she was involved in the CWA Local 6222 as a union member. After her retirement, she moved to Brenham and stayed busy with her adventurous trips to Walmart, annual family or friend trips to Galveston, and spending time with her Granny Girls.  In her pastime, she volunteered at Brenham Elementary School where her Brenham Granny Girls attended.  She loved everything in bright beautiful colors especially at Christmas time.  And she always enjoyed finding the next addition to her elaborate snowman collection.  Her greatest joy in life were her Granny Girls. She loved them more than life itself.  She was always proud of them and of the young ladies they were growing up to be.

Sue Chalmers is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Laurie Chalmers of Wylie, TX, and Lee K. and Ester A. Chalmers of Brenham, TX; sisters, Joanne Shaffer of Katy, TX, Beverly Ryan of Katy, TX, and Debbie Jochen of Dripping Springs, TX; grandchildren, known as her “Granny Girls”, Savannah Chalmers, Ashley Chalmers, Meagan Chalmers, Kylie Chalmers, and Jenna Chalmers; sister of the heart, Cynthia Jane Driskill; niece and nephew-in-law, Amy and husband Dave Voyles; and nephew and niece-in-law, Curt and wife Brianna Jochen.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Daphne Barttlingck; brother, Frederick William Barttlingck III; and brothers-in-law Dean Ryan and Luther Shaffer.
