Samuel "Tommy" Russell

August 30, 1938 — November 6, 2020

Samuel Thomas Russell, known to all as “Tommy” was born on August 30, 1938 in Macomb, OK. His homecoming into God’s Kingdom was Friday, November 6, 2020.

Tommy was loved by all who knew him. He was a soft spoken, God fearing, hardworking family man with a firm handshake and smile as big as Texas. Tommy was one of a kind, a “what you see is what you get” cowboy, dedicated to his wife and family and giving his all to support them not only financially, but also with respect and unconditional love. He was a man of few words, but when he spoke, it was something worth listening to. Everyone who knew Tommy knew he was passionate about rodeo, bull riding, and John Wayne. Many in Washington county knew Tommy as an honest, hands on Master plumber, water district operator, and owner of Tommy Russell Plumbing and Backhoe Service for over 35 years. Tommy’s greatest joy was seeing his children, Brady and Brianna grow into adults that every parent would be proud of and blessing him with five beautiful grandchildren.

Tommy was preceded in death by his mother, Jane Phillips; his “Daddy”, George Phillips; father, John Little Russell; brother, Donald Phillips; mother-in-law, Ruby March; sister-in-law, Dot Sidenblad; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Joe Scardino and Eva Scardino.

Tommy is survived by his wife, Linda Russell of 42 years; son and daughter-in-law, Brady Thomas and Brit Renee Russell of Brenham, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Brianna Lynn and Kyle Aaron Whitener of Cypress, TX; grandchildren, Ridge Thomas, Ryatt William, and Renzi Renee Russell, Evelyn Mae, and Elijah Thomas Whitener; and brothers, Kenneth Russell and Gene Parker. He is also survived by his brother-in-love, F.L. “Sid” Sidenblad; sister-in-law, Peggy Fisher, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Trey Burleson, Cody Carroll, Ronnie Hohlt, Gary Shilling, Cameron Wagner, and Kyle Whitener.

Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be F.L. “Sid” Sidenblad, Dave Scardino, Gary Davis, Scott Fisher, Bob Whitener, Billy Van Winkle; and all of Tommy’s grandchildren.
