Dr. Robert Mateer (Jack) Harrison, Jr. DDS of Brenham, Texas died September 15, 2021 at age 81 at his home in Brenham, Texas.

Funeral services (for immediate family only) will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, September 19, 2021 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Sandy Hill with Pastor Kris Brower officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation (open to the public) is scheduled for Saturday, September 18, 2021, at Memorial Oaks Chapel from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m.

Survived by his wife, Ottilia (Tillie) Harrison of Brenham, Texas, son, Robert Mateer (Rob) Harrison, III and wife Kalinn Harrison of St. Petersburg, Florida, daughter Jenny Ann Kilbourne Harrison and husband Jeff Leva of Houston, Texas; brother, Nicholas Miles (Nic) Harrison and wife Marian Harrison, nephew, Miles Carroll Harrison and wife Emily Harrison, and niece Laura (Gina) Virginia (Harrison) Melton and husband Colby Melton; stepson Michael (Mike) Muegge and wife Vicky Muegge, stepson Joel (Joey) Muegge, step-daughter-in-law Pamela (Pam) Muegge; grandchildren Hannah DelGurcio, Alex Delgurcio, Ronson Muegge, Daniel (Danny) Muegge Jr, Melissa (Muegge) Guttenberger, and Brett Muegge; 8 great grand chidren and 4 great nieces/nephews.

Preceded in death, father Robert Mateer (Jack) Harrison, Sr. and mother Ada Grace (Ladner) Harrison, stepson Ronald (Ronnie) Muegge, and stepson Daniel (Danny) Muegge.

Jack was baptized Presbyterian as an infant in Yorktown, Texas. He graduated from Calhoun High School in 1958 having lettered in Band and Track. He graduated from Victoria College in 1960 with an Associate Degree where he also played in the college band. He graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 1963 with a Bachelor of Science degree in pre-med where he was a member of The Longhorn Marching Band (saxophone) and Theta Chi fraternity. He then graduated with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree (DDS) from the University of Texas Dental School in Houston, Texas in 1967 where he was a member of Delta Sigma Delta fraternity. During Jack's earlier years he attended Camp Vallecito for Boys near Bayfield, Colorado, during the summers both as a camper and later as counselor where his dad was camp director for 10 years. During these summer months, Jack improved his marksmanship and earned NRA's highest award for Distinguished Marksmanship, Junior Division. Jack volunteered his time with Depelechin Children’s Center providing dental services to children in their care. He finally retired in 2013 after working 46 years.

Jack was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather who loved his family dearly. He was very involved with his children and never missed a game or event. Jack married the love of his life, Tillie, on August 12, 1995 and they were inseparable over the 26 years they were married. Jack was a laid back and easygoing man who saw the best in everyone. He loved being with his grandchildren and great grandchildren who all called him “Papa Jack”. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, spending time with family, and all things rabbit.

Serving as Pallbearers are Rob Harrison, Miles Harrison, Ronson Muegge, Danny Muegge, Brett Muegge, Jeff Leva, and Kelly Guttenberger.

Memorials may be directed to St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Sandy Hill. In lei of flowers, donations may be made to St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Sandy Hill.
