Paul Smith

October 3, 1972 — June 2, 2022

Paul Henry Smith, 49 years old, went to be with our Lord June 2, 2022.  Paul, also known to some as Paul Henry, was born October 3, 1972 in Royal Oak, Michigan. Paul is survived by: his mother & step-father (Ruby & Lex Sutton); father & step-mother (Paul & Susie Smith of Michigan); step-children & their spouses  (Dylan & Shelby Dollar and Emily & Justin Fuchs); children (Alea, Brett, Crysta, and Blake); grandchildren (Scarlett & Eli); stepbrother & wife (Chris & Brandie Sutton); sister (Tiffany Thompson); nieces & spouse (Thayley Thompson and Taite & Jordan Siemsglusz); great nephew (Liam Siemsglusz); and fiancé (Karen Hudson of College Station).

As a young child, Paul accepted Christ and was baptized as a profession of his faith and love for Christ. Paul believed in the Lord until the final days of his life. Paul moved with his family to Texas when he was 18 years old, where he began working for the family trash business, formerly CDS.  It was through this experience Paul developed an entrepreneurial spirit and strong desire and drive to start his own businesses someday. Being the intelligent guy and risk-taker that he was, Paul explored and, in fact, had many small businesses until he found his niche in buying and selling shipping containers. From there, he worked to grow a burgeoning business, Container Source. This was not his only venture, as Paul was always researching and learning about businesses he could start or buy. Realizing the need for diversification, Paul started Pro-Tech in College Station and later purchased All State Waste. His legacy lives on through his ideas, hard work, and the inception of these local businesses which are now run by his family.

Although Paul had a passion for business, he held a strong passion for his family whom he loved dearly. Paul was a proud father and was committed to raising his children to honor and follow the path of the Lord. While balancing the responsibilities of business, Paul found time to attend the activities of his 6 children who attend/attended school in Burton. With his family, they would make bags of goodies and take them to the homeless at Christmas time. He also allocated time to coach his children’s softball and baseball teams, as well as teaching Sunday school for a short period of time.  Paul loved the family life and found joy in taking family trips and going camping, fishing, hunting, and four-wheeling on the land he bought for his family in Marlin.

In recent years, Paul moved to College Station, where he later gained employment at a dealership working as a Service Manager.  He spread joy and smiles there by throwing out balls with smiley faces on them to co-workers to brighten their day. Paul had the best sense of humor; he was so funny! Although Paul had been battling chronic illness, he continued to press forward and work in spite of the constant pain he experienced.  Paul had recently become engaged and was looking forward to moving into a new home.  Throughout Paul’s last days, he managed to find some joy in life by taking short get-aways and spending time with family. Paul also found joy in giving, where he was known to leave generous tips to waiters and give amazing gifts to loved ones. Paul was always helping others where he saw there was a need.  His huge heart, giving ways, and sense of humor will long be remembered and cherished; he will truly be missed.
