Mervin Maass

Mervin Lee Maass, 80, passed away August 17, 2017 in Brenham.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Memorial Oaks Chapel with Pastor Greg Felder officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Visitation will be 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. Friday, at Memorial Oaks Chapel.

Mervin Lee Maass was born October 7, 1936 in Burton to Willie and Laura Stark Maass. He was baptized November 7, 1936, and confirmed April 2, 1950. On June 2, 1956, he married Carrie May Matthies in Burton. Mr. Maass worked as a home builder, and was retired.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Jimmy Tiemann of Brenham; brother and sister-in-law, Elroy and Carolyn Sue Maass of Brenham; sister-in-law, Evelyn Maass of Giddings; sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Nathan Zibilski of Magnolia; grandchildren: Valerie Harrison and Jared Tiemann. His great-grandchildren, Keagan Harrison, Hunter Duffy, and Aydn Tiemann, fondly referred to him as “Goo Goo".

Mr. Maass was preceded in death by his wife, Carrie; parents, Willie and Laura Maass; daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Jay Oldham; granddaughter, Madeliene Lynette Tiemann; brother and sister-in-law, Elwood and Virginia Maass; sister –in-law and brother-in-law, Marjorie Ann and Eugene Thaler, and brother-in-law, Dennis Maass.

Serving as pallbearers are Jerry Merten, Russell Engeling, Ken Cox, Michael Thaler, Roger Kelm, Jared Tiemann, and Rick Kloss.

Memorials may be directed to Luther Hill Ministries, or to a favorite charity.

Funeral arrangements for Mervin Lee Maass are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 West Main, Brenham.
