Marvin Marburger

Brenham, TX

Our beloved Marvin Elroy Marburger, 82, of Brenham, TX passed away on July 15, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 2, 1940 to parents Wollie and Alma (Bayer) Marburger in Burton.  He was baptized on September 8, 1940, was confirmed on April 11, 1954 at United Church of Christ in Burton.

On January 11, 1959 he was joined in marriage to Joyce Ann Ganske at Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville.  They were blessed with three children, Mark, Gary and Beth.

Marvin worked for Sears, he owned Marburger Refinishing and Appliances and he also worked and retired from Blue Bell Creameries. He was a member of the Brenham Volunteer Fire Department and Zionsville Lutheran Church.

He had a very caring nature and always worried about helping others before himself.  He never met a stranger and loved to tell jokes to anyone who would listen.  He loved playing cards and to hunt and fish. He liked doing wood working and loved the Fire Department.

Marvin’s grandchildren were the pride and joy of his life and his great-grandchildren brought light to his world and a smile on his face.

Marvin is survived by his wife, Joyce Marburger; sons and daughters-in law, Mark and Shanan Marburger and Gary and Rocksann Marburger. Daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Jerry Kunkel.

Grandchildren, Clinton Marburger, Mason and Katlyn Marburger, Grayson and Katie Marburger and Cody Kunkel; great-grandchildren, Elodie, Winna, Merritt, Vyla and Heidi Marburger.  Sister, Laverne Blum, sister-in-law, Shirley Ganske along with numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, mother and father-law, brothers-in-law, James Ganske and Earl Blum; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Milroy and Betty Ganske, also aunts, uncles and cousins.

Pallbearers are Clinton Marburger, Mason Marburger, Grayson Marburger, Cody Kunkel, Larry Blum, Jeffery Ganske. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Brenham Fire Department, his cousin, Elmer Marburger, and his nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 7:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 19, 2022 with family present from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Memorial Oaks Chapel.  A funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville with Pastor Glenn Hohlt officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Memorials in Marvin’s name can be made to the Zion Lutheran Church, 1800 FM 2679, Brenham, TX 77833, or to the charity of your choosing.

The family would like to thank his caregivers, Mika, LaKendra, Joann, Courtney, Loretta, Donald, Cookie and Hospice Acent Care for their love and care.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 West Main Street, Brenham, TX 77833.
