Loretta Gaskamp

Loretta Evelyn (Novak) Gaskamp, age 89, of Houston, passed away on October 2, 2022. She was born August 29, 1933 in Needville, TX. She moved to the Houston area in 1955, and spent the remainder of her life there. On June 4, 1955, Loretta was united in marriage to Louis Gaskamp.

Loretta was a long-time customer service representative for Dow Chemical Company. She retired in 1991. Loretta enjoyed being involved in the community, and she was an Auxiliary member of American Legion Post 48 and VFW Post 7104.

Although Loretta and Louis weren’t blessed with children of their own, they deeply loved their family and will be dearly missed by surviving family members: brother Raymond Novak of Rosenberg, sister-in-law Betty Lueckemeyer of Houston, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Loretta is preceded in death by her husband Louis in 2019 after more than 60 years of marriage; her parents Adolph and Bettie Novak; brother Adolph Novak, Jr.; sister Della Mae Metz; sisters-in-law Verda Gaskamp, Evelyn Novak, Pearl Hugo, Miriam Gaskamp, and Rosalie Gaskamp; brothers-in-law Reuben Gaskamp, A.F. Metz, Leroy Gaskamp, Perry Gaskamp, Garrett Gaskamp, Roland Lueckemeyer, and Melvin Hugo.

Visitation with the family will be at 10:00 am until the service starts at 11:00 am, on Thursday, October 6, 2022, at Memorial Oaks Chapel Funeral Home in Brenham, TX. There will be refreshments and fellowship after the memorial service has concluded. In accordance with her wishes, Loretta will be cremated. The cremated remains of Loretta and Louis will be laid to rest in a private interment at Prairie Lea Cemetery, Brenham, TX.

For those desiring, a memorial may be given to Messiah Lutheran Church or a charity of choice.
