Lewis "Bud" Foster, 79, left this world with a smile on his face to meet his Lord June 7, 2022, as he was sleeping, he was called home.  Bud fought his fight with cancer for many years and won several battles

Visitation will be at Memorial Oaks Chapel, 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Friday, the funeral service will be at 2:00 pm Saturday June 18 at the First United Methodist Church in Brenham, Texas.  Burial will follow at Phillipsburg Methodist Cemetery.

Bud was born February 28, 1943 in Lewisville, Texas, parents Glen and Nola Foster, the oldest of 4 brothers,  all were first responders, Firefighter/Paramedics in the Dallas area.  Sister, Sue served as an Emergency Dispatcher.

Bud loved his country and joined the Navy out of High School, served 4 years on board the USS Force, a mine sweeper off the coast of Viet Nam.  Returning to the states he attended UCLA, later moving to Dallas.  He met his wife, Marshia Karen Meyer, and married August 20,1976 and shared 47 years together.

Bud retired to Brenham, much like his home in Grapevine, Texas.  He loved the historical home built in 1881, named her the Rachel, restored it to the original beauty making it his retirement home.

Bud had a servant heart and the Dallas Fire Department was his answer to helping his fellow man.  He became a part of the Dallas Fire Department in 1972, first as a EMT and later as a Paramedic delivering 13 babies in his career. Many answered fire emergencies, accidents, and life endangerment situations required his skilled abilities. Bud was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Brenham Rotary Club, A Paul Harris Fellow, counselor for young men for the New Beginnings Pregnancy Center, nicknamed "Mr. Fortnightly" for his work at the book sales, he was an elected Deacon, taught many Bible classes and Sunday morning classes, a strong support of the Boys and Girls Club, the Canine Companions, Unity Theatre, St. Jude's Children Hospital and Brenham State School.

Bud is survived by his wife Marshia Karen, children Jim William, Heith Alan and wife Marla, Julia Karen and April. Granddaughters Amanda, Ashly, Rachael, Tiffany and Kylie; grandsons Jeremy, Justin, and Joshua.  He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sue.

Pallbearers are the members of the Brenham Firefighters Association, Honor Military Guard, Honorary Pallbearers: Ran Newman, Glen Goodman, Chief David Baker, Captain Ken Woodard, Chief Trixie Lohrke, and Dick Dickerson

Special family:  Nieces Theda Anderson, Sherrie Albers and Charlene and husband Ronnie Hardin; Nephews Mark Schneider and wife Sherry and Derek Foster.  Brothers Robert, John David, Thomas Wayne.
