Kirby Lehrmann

Kirby Emery Lehrmann, 93, passed away on November 27, 2020.  Kirby was a lifelong member of Washington County and was well-known and loved in his community.

For those who wish to pay their respects, you may visit Memorial Oaks Chapel on Monday, November 30, 2020 from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Tuesday, December 1 from 7:00 a.m. to noon for the viewing. Funeral services will be held at St. John’s United Church of Christ of Burton on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.

Kirby was born on June 9, 1927 in Burton, TX to parents Edward and Bertha (Bathe) Lehrmann. He was baptized and confirmed in Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville.  He received an Associate’s Degree from Blinn College and Cotton Certification from Texas A&M. He served in the Army during World War II.

On May 16, 1948 Kirby married Dorothy Lee Weinert in St. John’s United Church of Christ in Burton.

In 1961 Kirby along with William Steen, started the Brazos Valley Cotton Company and worked together for 31 years until William’s death, after which he continued this business with his family.

Kirby was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ of Burton, where he was a Sunday school teacher and council member.  He served on the Burton School Board for 20 years, was a charter member of the Burton Lions, was a member of the American Legion, was director of the Texas Cotton Association and was a member of the American Cotton Shippers Association.

Kirby is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Ray Thaler, Ann and Larry Pape,  all of Brenham; grandchildren, Robert Lehrmann of Brenham, Ron “BeBe” and Haley Lehrmann of Hunt, Bruce Lehrmann of Australia, Bobbie Lehrmann and special friend, Kasey Ullrich of Brenham, Amy and Brad Fritsch of Fayetteville, Ryan and Megan Pape and Angie and Sam Hodde of Burton, Matt and Patricia Thaler and Lindsay and Blake Henry of Brenham; great-grandchildren, Bryana and Lillie Lehrmann, Maci Lehrman, Lane, Logan and Lawson Fritsch, Ava and Emery Pape, Natalie and Preston Hodde, Madalyn and Vivian Henry, Vicente Velez, Aaron and Nolan Thaler; sister-in-law and husband, Gertrude (Lehrmann) and Gilbert Schroeder; special cousins, William “Billy” and Pat Wendler, and Debbie Lehrmann.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Lehrmann; son, Robert “Bob” Lehrmann, Sr.; great-granddaughter, Averie Fritsch; parents, Ed and Bertha Lehrmann; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ernest and Lillie (Prenzler) Weinert; brother, Rueben “Jim” Lehrmann; brother and sister-in-law, Edmond and Lynette Lehrmann; sister and brother-in-law, Geneva and Elton G. Tonn; and cherished cousins, Otto and Dorothy Louise Lehrmann.

Pallbearers will be Brad Fritsch, Blake Henry, Sam Hodde, Robert Lehrmann, Ron “BeBe” Lehrmann, Ryan Pape and Matt Thaler.

Honorary pallbearers will be Willian “Billy” Wendler, Ben Flencher, Ray Weiss, Bob Whitener, Charlie Lange, Lois McElreath, Marshall Everett and James Lehrmann

Memorials may be given to the St. John’s United Church of Christ of Burton and Hospice Brazos Valley.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 West Main Street, Brenham, TX 77833.
