Kathy Goyen-Sult

Mary Kathleen “Kathy” Goyen-Sult, of Brenham, passed away on October 14, 2021.

Graveside services will be held at Prairie Lea Cemetery on Saturday, October 23, 2021, at 11:00 am.

Kathy was born on September 21, 1954, in Bellaire, TX to Helen Boyd and Robert Arthur Goyen.  The family would eventually relocate to the Brenham area, and although Kathy moved many times in her life, she always returned to Washington County and chose to call Brenham her home when she retired.

Kathy spent more than 30 years employed as an electrician. She was praised for her extensive knowledge of the field, and she was a proud longtime member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local Union 716 out of Houston.  Her career as an electrician allowed her the opportunity to live and work in many states including New Jersey, Illinois, and Arkansas.

Those closest to her, would likely describe Kathy as a spirited and colorful character. She enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, especially good food, shopping, and spending time with family.  She lived life on her own terms, and she believed in doing what makes you happy. There was always room in her heart for animals, and she treasured the time spent with many dog companions over the years. While Kathy could sometimes have a mischievous streak that kept everyone on their toes, it was accepted as one more quirk that people loved about her.  Kathy will be remembered for her fantastic wit, remarkable sense of humor, and above all, her generous heart. She will be deeply missed by her friends and family.

Kathy is survived by her brother Bobby Goyen of Missouri City, brother John & wife Barbara Goyen of Plano, sister Shirley Leaman of Conroe, brother Donald Loomis of Brenham, and her many beloved nieces and nephews.

Kathy is preceded in death by her parents Helen Boyd and Robert Arthur Goyen, and her beloved dogs Jody, Holly, and PT.
