Sarah Juanita Smith Hickey, 87, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, of Brenham, Texas passed away on January 30, 2021 after she lost her fight to COVID-19.

Juanita was born in Marshall County, Tennessee on June 16, 1933 to Kenneth and Lucile Smith. In 1949, Juanita and her family moved to Knoxville, Tennessee where she graduated from High School and went on to attend National Business College where she graduated with a Business degree. On June 19, 1954 she was married to Robert Edward Hickey. After her husband graduated from the University of Tennessee, they moved to Los Angeles, California, Washington, D.C., Huntsville, Alabama, before moving their family to Houston, Texas where they lived for 27 years. In 1989, Juanita and Robert moved to Brenham, Texas where they owned and operated Mighty Mist Car Wash for a few years.

Juanita was a lifelong Methodist. She was a very active member of the First United Methodist Church of Brenham, Texas and helped in many activities. Juanita loved the Lord and served him by visiting the sick, delivering The Upper Room Daily Devotional Guide to nursing homes, volunteering at Higgins Branch, Faith Mission, and Scott-White Hospital in Brenham. She was also a member of the Brenham Police Department’s Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association and Citizens on Patrol program.

Juanita is preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Smith, mother, Lucile Martin Smith, husband, Robert Hickey, daughter, Kathy Revenaugh, son, Jim Hickey, sister-in-law, Martha Smail. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Cook and husband Matt of Massachusetts; granddaughter, Shanna Bryson and husband Chris; grandsons, Bobby Revenaugh and wife Kim, David Revenaugh and wife Melissa, and Tyler Cook; 3 great-grandchildren, Ashlyn Bryson, Hunter Bryson, and Ayden Revenaugh. She is also survived by bother, Robert Smith and wife Gwen Smith of Chattanooga, TN; along with numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

A visitation will be from 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p. m., Thursday, February 4, 2021 at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham, TX. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 5, 2021, at First United Methodist Church, 408 North Baylor, Brenham, TX 77833, with Pastor Bobbie Maltas officiating.

Those wishing to make memorial gifts may be given to First United Methodist Church or Hospice, Brenham.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 West Main Street, Brenham, TX 77833.
