Jane Mcpherson

September 28, 1951 — October 25, 2021

Brenham, TX

Jane McPherson, beloved daughter of R.C and Norma McPherson (both deceased) ascended to the loving arms of Jesus Christ on  October 25, 2021.  She was born in Port Arthur, Texas, on September 28, 1951, along with her identical twin sister, Judy.

Judy and Jane were affected by the illness of our mother during pregnancy that affected their brain at a critical stage of development.   Even though Jane never reached a level of adult maturity, her wit and her mischievous behavior kept her family and caregivers on constant alert.  She was deeply loved by her sister, Judy, her parents, grandparents, her siblings, and all who came in contact with Jane.  Her sister, Carol, became her legal guardian following the passing of our Father in 2004.

Judy and Jane left our home in 1955.  They were admitted into a Catholic school in Clarks, Louisiana, as this was the only institution that could accept both of them at the time.  Eventually they were moved to Austin State School.  Our parents placed them in a new school, Brenham State School, in the early 1980’s, where they remained until 2014. We wish to thank Brenham School for their love and care they provided to both Judy and Jane.   At that time, the state school was recommending community home living.  Jovic Homes of Brenham became their new home, where they enjoyed living together and joining others in advancing mentally and physically in a home environment.  Jane resided there until her death.

Jane is survived by the following:  Brother, Ronald McPherson and wife Jamie; Sister, Carol Nelson Cordell and husband Mike; and her beloved twin sister, Judy McPherson.  She is also survived by Dr. Jeffrey Nelson, (nephew) Christopher McPherson, (nephew), Kimberly McPherson, (niece), Jennifer McPherson Portlock, (niece) and her husband Brian.  She is also survived by numerous cousins of the McPherson and Arnold family.

It is with deep appreciation that we honor her last home, Jovic Homes of Brenham, and the Director, Victor Abolo, and the staff of Jovic.  We especially appreciate the home mother, Alpha Bonner, for the loving care she gave our sister, especially in her final months of life.  We were blessed to have the services of Hospice of Brazos Valley, for the care and comfort they provided to Jane and our family.

A funeral service will be held at Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 West Main Street, Brenham on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at 10:00 am with viewing being held for an hour prior to the service.  A private burial will be held in Comanche County, Energy, Texas.
