Gerdine Fuchs, 85, died on Thursday September 23, 2021.

The visitation will be Saturday, September 25, 2021 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. A funeral service will be Sunday September 26, 2021 at 2 p.m. at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Burton, TX officiated by Reverend Darrin Holub and Reverend Glen Schoenberg. A graveside service will follow after funeral at La Bahia Cemetery in Burton, TX.

Gerdine was born on November 8, 1935 to Gus and Annie Wagner Kankel. She married her husband Lorenz Fuchs on December 11, 1954 at St. John’s Evangelical and Reformed Church of Burton.

She was a member of St. John’s UCC, Circle #1, Circle #2, Charter member of the Burton Lioness Club, Burton Volunteer Fire Dept. Auxiliary, Texas Farm Bureau and Honorary Member of the Boling FFA. Gerdine enjoyed quilting, scrapbooking and genealogy research. She loved family gatherings, watching sports and cattle shows of kids and grandkids, playing cards with friends, working at the antique show and baking her famous monster cookies. She loved her bonus family in Germany, and her special caregivers David Johnson, Ruby Stracener, Carli Duncam and Aubrey Eickenhorst.

Gerdine is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Clyde and Robbie Fuchs, and Dean and Paula Fuchs; daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Randy Howard; sister-in-law, Stella Kessler; grandchildren, Luke and Melinda Fuchs, Tyler and Allie Fuchs, Kris and Ben Lewis, Josh and Allison Howard, Kasey Fuchs, Chelsea and Brent Michalak, and Kallie and Kasey Kram; great-grandchildren, Caleb and Cassidy Fuchs, Toby and Emily Lewis, Reese and Lane Michalak, Reagan and Jace Howard, Blaine and Sterling Carmeans, Jaxson and Sophie McCarty, Cutler and Cooper Fuchs, and Liam Kram.

She is preceded in death by husband, Lorenz Fuchs; parents, Gus and Annie Kankel; in-laws, Ed and Alwina Fuchs; brothers and sisters-in-law, Gilbert and Mable Kankel, Melvin and Deloris Kankel, Elroy and Ima Kankel; brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-laws, Calvin and Nell Fuchs, Robert and Anita Zimmermann, and Paul Kessler.

Pallbearers are Luke Fuchs, Tyler Fuchs, Kris Lewis, Josh Howard, Kasey Fuchs, Chelsea Michalak and Kallie Kram.

Memorials may be given to St. John’s UCC Playground Fund.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 West Main St. Brenham, TX 77833.
