Garry Guilloud

November 8, 1941 — March 19, 2021

Dr. Garry Lee Guilloud, DVM, of Houston, Texas passed away after a full day’s work.

Garry, born and raised in Pottsboro, Texas died on his beloved Washington County cattle ranch on March 19, 2021, once the tractor had been put away, the truck packed, and the cows fed.

A graduate of Texas A&M school of veterinary medicine, he operated Briargrove Animal Clinic with partner Dr. Leon Smith and a team of great people to provide four decades of support for four-legged creatures great and small along with the two-leggeds who loved them.

A generous spirit and man of devoted faith, Garry took pride in providing for his family, never missing an opportunity to share his time, energy, and talents with neighbors, and always being present for the early Sunday service.

Garry was an Air Force Captain who served a tour of duty in Greece, and he was a charter member of the Houston Westchase Rotary Club. He found ways to share his abilities with communities in Honduras, Nicaragua, Kenya, and around the world.

He was 79 years old and is survived by his wife of 48 years, Nancy Britton Guilloud; his children Stephanie Guilloud, Renée Guilloud Thomason, Sam Guilloud; two grandchildren Scotlynn and Wilder Thomason whom he adored; his longtime friends; his sweet Labrador; 30 head of ornery cattle; and a half gallon of Blue Bell in the freezer.

He left us as he taught us: to leave your worksite finished and give all you have to the very end.
