Donald Sander

Donald Ray Sander born August 16, 1941 in Welcome, Texas, died October 22, 2021 at his home in Richmond, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents Raymond W Sander and Leona Garland Sander and brother Vernon Sander. Don is survived by his wife of 52 years Dorothy Stegent Sander, children Stacie Cook, husband James Cook of Lubbock; Brian Sander, wife Megan Sander of San Antonio. Grandchildren Ashley Cook, Allison Cook, Elizabeth Sander and William Sander; Sister-In-Law Pauline Jacobs of Brenham.

Following his service as Specialist in the United States Army (1960-63), Don began a 30 year career at Southwestern Bell Corporation retiring in 1998. He was an active member of the American Legion and the Honor Guard of Rosenberg, an avid gardener, talented accordion player, an Astros fan and ruthless Scrabble and Domino player. He loved teaching his grandchildren how to fish.

Funeral services and burial will be held Wednesday, October 27th at 10:30am at the St. James Lutheran Church of New Wehdem, with Pastor Evan Cameron officiating. Pallbearers are Winfred Hollas, Larry Kendziora, Mark Kokemor, James Nail, Billy Skweres, Ed Wensel and honorary pallbearers, Bobby Holt and Harold Holt.

A visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until service time.

Services are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 West Main Street, Brenham, Texas, 77833.
