Clarence "Buddy" Pyle Jr.

Houston, TX

Clarence C. "Buddy" Pyle, Jr. was born in Houston, Texas on September 30, 1929, and passed away on January 5, 2022, after a full and active life of more than 92 years. Buddy grew up in the Houston area, attended Reagan High School, married the love of his life, Thelma Joyce Plant, and enjoyed a diverse work career highlighted by a management position at Wald Moving & Storage, co-ownership of a Dorsey Trailor Distributorship, and his ownership of Jade Sign Company. A life-long Christian, Buddy was a member of OST Baptist Church, White Oak Baptist Church, and Chappell Hill Baptist Church. He was also a 65-year member of Reagan Masonic Lodge #1037.

An avid fisherman, hunter, and storyteller, Buddy was particularly successful at balancing work life, family life, and outdoor adventures. Most talented at working with his hands, Buddy found time after work to complete a host of personal building projects, including construction of several home additions, fishing boats, and a speed boat that he drove in a competitive Lake Houston race. He also began a long-time hobby of restoring antique vehicles, a love he shared with his wife Joyce. Following retirement in 1980, he continued his passion for construction projects by rebuilding and flying his own single-wing airplane, building homes in Jasper, Toledo Bend, and Chappell Hill, Texas, as well as restoring a host of additional antique vehicles, especially Studebakers.

Buddy was preceded in death by his father, Clarence C. Pyle, Sr., mother Sally Pixeola Lockart, brother Allen Lockart Pyle, and sister Roberta Aline Pyle.

He is survived by his wife of more than 75 years, Thelma Joyce Plant Pyle, son Clarence Wayne Pyle,  daughter Linda Joyce Pyle Jeanes, daughter-in-law Evelyn Maria Gibson Pyle, son-in-law Franklin Wyatt Jeanes, grandsons David Wayne Pyle, Ryan Patrick Pyle, Donald Wyatt Jeanes, Brian Franklin Jeanes, and six great-grandchildren, Layne Ashley Reynolds Pyle, Christian David Pyle, Hannah Brennan Pyle, Gibson Ryan Pyle, Kaija Christine Pyle, and Hazel Denise Jeanes.

A funeral service and celebration of Buddy's life will be held at Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 West Main, Brenham, Texas 77833 at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 8, 2022. The graveside service will be held at Masonic Cemetery, 10587 Old Chappell Hill Rd, Chappell Hill, TX 77426.
