Brookshire Mcvean

May 1, 2007 — February 2, 2021

Brenham, TX

Brookshire Pipes “Brooks” McVean passed away on February 2, 2021. Brooks was born on May 1, 2007 in San Antonio, Texas to Jon Jeffrey and Amanda Carter McVean, and brother Carter Houston McVean. In 2013, the family moved to Brenham, Texas.

Brooks was an 8th grade student at Brenham Junior High School, where he enjoyed participating in the Brenham Maifest, Brenham Cub Football, and National Junior Honor Society. He attended and was an acolyte at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Brenham. At five years old, Brooks was diagnosed with Nephrotic Syndrome, a type of kidney disease, and underwent rigorous treatment for eight years to stay in remission. Since March 9, 2020, due to the pandemic, Brooks was restricted from school and from pursuing his passion to play football.

No matter the activity, you could always find Brooks laughing and smiling with friends. He loved music and breaking out with a dance move or two. His smile was contagious, especially when watching his LSU Tigers. Brooks loved LSU and always enjoyed attending games with his family. He was a die-hard Tiger at an early age, and his dreams came true during their 2019-2020 perfect season, including games against Auburn, Texas A&M, and Oklahoma for the semi-final.

Spending time with his family was something that Brooks cherished. From swimming with the dolphins and fishing in Hawaii, to road trips to Baton Rouge, Brooks’ laughter and humor made all vacations memorable.

Brooks continues to be loved and cherished by his parents and his brother, along with many other family members: grandparents, Cathy Cole, Cynthia and Michael McVean, and Robert and Sallie Carter; aunts & uncles, Jessica Cole and Michael Dee Buchanan, Julie and Christopher Foret, and Matthew Carter; and cousins, Rosemary and Cole Buchanan and Ashley Foret; Great-aunt Phyllis Bluck, Great Uncle & Aunt Pat & Judi Cole, Cousins Lindsey Cole McKean, Beau McKean, Dane McKean, Kailyn and Travis Cole, Millie Rose, Ellamae Alise Cole, Dylan & Ha Cole.

He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Michael Deware Cole; great-grandparents, Rosemary and Joe Cole, Roy and Annie Laurie Liles Carter, L.D. and Annie Pipes, Troy and Ruth McVean, Leo Joseph Bluck, and Evelyn Marie Hagerty.

Pallbearers are Chris Everett, Michael Lucas, Michael Dee Buchanan, Chris Foret, Jarvis Van Dyke, Michael Groves, Matt Kenjura, and Harvey McIntyre. Honorary Pallbearers are the 8th Grade Class of Brenham Junior High School.  Acolytes are Harper Groves, Campbell Groves, Reece Knoebel, and Austin Morisak.
