Winston Rosenbaum

September 8, 1937 — January 29, 2024

Winston Rosenbaum, 86 of Burton died peacefully on January 29, 2024, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Bryan surrounded by his loved ones. He was born September 8, 1937, to Alfred and Benita Sternberg Rosenbaum and lived all of his life in the Zionsville community.

Winston was baptized November 14, 1937, at Eben Ezer Lutheran Church of Berlin and affirmed his faith in March 1951 at Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor R. J. Weber. His confirmation verse was 1 Corinthians 13:13: And now faith, hope and love abide, these three and the greatest of these is love. Winston lived his life according to this verse.

He graduated from Brenham High School in 1956 and received an Associate's Degree from Blinn College in 1958. Winston married Tanya Heins on December 9, 1967, at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brenham with Pastor Thomas H. Swygert officiating.

Winston worked at Gillespies Pharmacy, J. C. Penney in Brenham, and at Brenham National Bank for over 50 years as a bank teller. He was voted Favorite Bank Teller in the Brenham Banner Press Awards and was honored by the Texas Bankers Foundation for his 50 years of banking.

Winston loved to serve his Lord and he took great joy in serving in whatever capacity was needed at church. This included reading scripture for church services and occasionally preaching sermons. He often served as communion assistant, usher, greeter, shut-in communion visitor, and was on church council. He taught Sunday School and served as Sunday School Superintendent. Winston enjoyed serving others and developed lasting relationships with his many bank customers. Previously he was on the board of the Brenham Mission Society, served as Washington County Fair Treasurer, and volunteered with Bread Partners of Washington County. He especially enjoyed his time spent with family, traveling, Astros baseball games, gardening, tacking many quilts for Lutheran World Relief, and walking and caring for his dogs. He was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Brenham.

Winston is survived by his wife of 56 years, Tanya, daughter and son-in-law Karen and Dave Bunger, and granddaughters Abby and Ella Bunger all of Brenham. Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Gerard and Barbara Probandt and Renee and George Nahlous, and many friends and other relatives.
