Willis Charles Woods

March 14, 1937 — August 7, 2025

Livingston, TX

On the morning of August 7, 2025, Willis Charles Woods passed away in Livingston, Texas. Willis was born March 14, 1937 in Johnson City, Texas, to William Hugh and Lucille Pearl Foster Woods. On December 14, 1996 he was united in marriage to ArJean Bernshausen.

Willis was a graduate of William B. Travis High School in Austin Texas and was especially proud of his service in the United States Marine Corps motor pool. He represented his company in an Army sponsored contest for wheeled vehicle repairs. He achieved a clean sweep of the competition with an 88 percent average. Willis made his company commander very proud. He was equally proud of being a member of the Onion Creek Masonic Lodge for over fifty years. Willis worked in the elevator construction business. In the beginning he worked for Otis Elevator and later with Fujitec Elevator. Willis helped install elevators in many of the high-rise buildings in Houston, Dallas and later in Ohio until he retired. He loved outdoors; which included hunting, fishing, working on his tractor, gardening, and raising cattle. He eventually settled in the wonderful town of Brenham, Texas, where he made many amazing friends and met many neighbors. God bless each person who made his life special.

Willis is survived by son Michael Charles Woods, daughter in law Brenda Woods, stepson Duane Clayton Grabarschick, daughter Linda Ann Dewey, sister Joan Conner and sister-in-law El Vera Woods. Grandchildren left to cherish his memory are Lindsey Sellenriek, Kristin Dewey and Brittany Woods, great grandchildren Anna Gutierrez, Destiney Sanford, Kadin Sellenriek, ELora Sellenriek and Caleb Sellenriek.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother David Hugh Woods, Sr. sister Judy Niemann and granddaughter Jessica Dewey.
