William Borchardt

William Otis Borchardt, 91, died October 9, 2019 in Brenham.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, October 14, 2019 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brenham, with Pastor Pat Dietrich officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Sunday at Memorial Oaks Chapel.

Mr. Borchardt was born October 30, 1927 in the Longpoint Community of Washington County to Willie and Mathilda (Kieke) Borchardt. He was baptized December 11, 1927 at Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville by Pastor Karl Mueller, and confirmed in the same church on September 21, 1941. He was married to Birdie Mae Boehnemann on October 10, 1948 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine.

A member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mr. Borchardt was also active in the American Legion in Brenham.

Mr. Borchardt proudly served his country in the U. S. Army during World War II. He was retired after years of employment at the Brenham State Supported Living Center and the Brenham National Bank.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law Douglas and Sandra Borchardt of Brenham, Darrell Borchardt and wife Laura Pickering of Houston; and daughter and son-in-law Linda Greig and husband John of Bryan; grandchildren: Kelly Hodde (Alan); Alison Urlaub (John); Justin Borchardt (Kathleen); Nathan Greig (Hannah); and Michael Greig. Great-grandchildren: Avery Renea Hodde, Karter Alan Hodde, Crosby Borchardt, Bennett Borchardt, Zoey Greig, Parker Greig and Zaylee Greig; sister-in-law, Grace Boehnemann; nieces Diane Boehnemann, Donna Putnam, and Debra Kieke (Ricky).

Mr. Borchardt was preceded in death by his wife, Birdie Mae Borchardt; parents and parents-in-law; brothers-in-law Harvey Boehnemann and Alton (“Pido”) Boehnemann, and sister-in-law Annie Boehnemann.

Serving as pallbearers are Justin Borchardt, Alan Hodde, Nathan Greig, Michael Greig, Ray Rodenbeck, Carson Wilke, John Urlaub, and Mark Murphy. Aubert and Cleo Jaeger will be honorary pallbearers.

Memorials may be directed to St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church Foundation Congregational Trust Fund, or to the charity of your choice.
