Wilfred Kuecker

On Sunday, November 17, 2019 a very fine and gentle man, Wilfred Kuecker, was called from his earthly home of 85 years and 15 days to his heavenly home. There he shall live in eternity in the presence of his Creator, a promise fulfilled.

Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Tuesday, November 19, 2019, at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at 2 pm at St. Paul’s Evangelical Church in Brenham, Texas. Burial will be in Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham.

Wilfred Kuecker was born at home in The Sun Oil Field, Washington County, Texas on November 2, 1934 to Henry William Kuecker and Elisabetha Louisa Karolina (Elsie) Janner. He was baptized on February 24th, 1935 and confirmed on April 10th, 1949 at St. John Lutheran Church in Prairie Hill, Texas.

He graduated from Brenham High School with the class of 1953. As a Brenham Cub baseball player, he was the first to hit a homerun out of Fireman’s Park. His love for baseball continued as he played at Blinn College. After graduating from Blinn College in 1955, Wilfred served in the Army in Germany from 1955 to 1957. Upon returning home from Germany, he married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Barbara Ann Zeiss on September 7, 1957.

Wilfred was a faithful member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church until his passing and served several terms on the Church Council.

After retiring from his dairy and cattle businesses, Wilfred enjoyed traveling with his wife both in the U.S. and abroad. However, his favorite place to visit was Dallas, Texas where he joyfully watched his three grandchildren participate in many, many sports and dance events.

Everyone who knew Wilfred felt a true connection with him because of his gentle and genuine spirit. He greeted everyone with kindness and a charming smile. His family looked up to him, and they admired his peaceful character.

Wilfred is survived by his wife Barbara (Zeiss) Kuecker; son and daughter-in-law, Troy and Cerelle Kuecker of Brenham and Dallas, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Adrianne and Paul Boynton of Dallas, Texas; grandson and wife, Cody and Jordan Kuecker of College Station, Texas; grandson, John Boynton of Dallas, Texas; granddaughter, Caroline Boynton of Austin, Texas; brother and sister-in-law Gerald and Theresa Kuecker; brother, Charles Kuecker; sister, Doris Kuecker Sebesta; sisters-in-law, Blondean Kuecker and Mildred Kuecker; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Owen and Joan Zeiss, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Wilfred was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Elsie Kuecker; brothers and sisters-in-law Ervin and LaVerna Kuecker, Clarence and Dorothy Kuecker, Elroy and Betty Kuecker, Bill and Patsy Zeiss; brothers, Henry Kuecker and Howard Kuecker; sister and brother-in-law Evelyn and Ervin Schulze, brother-in-law Herbert Sebesta, and nephews Michael Kuecker, Craig Kuecker and Greg Sebesta.

Serving as pallbearers are Lance Kuecker, Ron Kuecker, Kary Kuecker, Brad Kuecker, Gary Schulze, John McNair, Bill Zeiss Jr.and Jeffery Zeiss.

Serving as honorary pallbearers are John and Mildred Tiaden, Donald Ray and Florence Rose Ahrens, Howard and Verlin Kruse, Bill McAdams and Elaine Sommers.

Memorials may be directed to St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Brenham, Texas or to the charity of your choice.
