Virginia Mccoy

Virginia Susan McCoy, 95, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2019.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 from 6-8 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 8 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Brenham with Pastor Troy Sikes officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Virginia McCoy was born on March 30, 1924 to parents French Sullivan and Elva Jane (McMorrow) Ballengee in Duck, W. VA. She married Jim Wesley McCoy on February 2, 1943. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Brenham, and she was a part of Joy Sunday School Class. Virginia was employed at Brenham State School, Driscoll Dorm D. as a healthcare supervisor. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her egg rolls, and pecan and peach pies were her family’s particular favorites. Virginia also loved walking, doing crossword and word search puzzles, and taking care of others.

Survivors include daughters, Barbara (William) Bednarek, Beverly McCoy, and Donna McCoy; son-in-law, Jeff Fricke; grandchildren, Craig Bednarek (Dana), Angela Bryan (Danny), Lisa Zela, Susan Bednarek, Jeff Thiel, and Matthew Thiel; great grandchildren, Elizabeth Stempuhowski, Julie Stempuhowski, Courtney Bednarek, Christa Bednarek, Colton Zela, Tanner Zela, Emerson Thiel, and Wesley Thiel; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jimmie Lynn Fricke; husband, Jim W. McCoy; sister, Leo Dulaney; brothers, Louis, Doyle, Donald, and Garland Ballengee; and parents, French and Elva Ballengee.

Pallbearers will be Craig Bednarek, Jeff Thiel, Jeff Fricke, Tanner Zela, Danny Bryan, Lawrence Gust.

Memorial contributions will be given to First Baptist Church of Brenham or charity of your choice.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., in Brenham.
