Viola Weiss

Viola Weiss, 96 of LaGrange, Texas, passed away on August 6, 2021 in Brenham, Texas.

Viola the second child born to Henry and Lilly (Hodde) Beckermann was born on July 18, 1925 in Mill Creek, Texas. She was baptized at Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine on November 15, 1925 by Rev. Carl Ziehe. She was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Eben-Ezer Lutheran Church of Berlin.

Viola was a member of Zionsville Lutheran Church, The American Legion Auxiliary, Berlin-Mill-Creek-Zionsville Volunteer Fire Dept. Auxiliary, Home Demonstration Club in Rutersville, Bluebonnet Club, Board Member of Senior Citizens in LaGrange and was named Women of the Year of the Wahalla EEA Club. She attended Mill Creek School until the eighth grade and then graduated from Brenham High School in 1942. Viola retired from Sealy Mattress Co. in Brenham after 35 years of service.

On April 12, 1947 she married Walldon Schultz at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Brenham. Walldon passed away on December 21, 1995. On May 7, 1997 she married Herman Weiss Jr. at Zionsville Lutheran Church in Brenham. Herman passed away on May 18, 2002 in Newark, New Jersey.

Viola is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Vickie and Jim Garner, and her stepdaughter Jane Luther and family, great grandchildren Dyllin Harrison and Paityn Harrison. Sisters, Ruth Lorenz-Ganske and Elvera Drews along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and great great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, grandson Luke Harrison, brothers Fred Beckermann and Dennis Beckermann, step son-in-law Jim Luther and special friend Dennis Rudloff.

Funeral services for Viola Weiss are scheduled for Tuesday August 10, 2021 at Zionsville Lutheran Church at 10:00 am with Pastor Lawrence Bade presiding. Visitation with the family is scheduled for Monday August 9, 2021 from 5-7 pm at Memorial Oaks Chapel.

Pallbearers are Lloyd Beckermann, Roy Beckermann, Henry (Hank) Beckermann, Paul Cmajdalka, Arthur Daniel, James Schulz, Johnnie Kmiec and Dyllin Harrison.

Honorary pallbearers are Jim Garner, Kirk Luther and Donald Beckermann.
