Tommy Joe Przyborski

October 18, 1950 — April 24, 2026

Brenham

Tommy Joe Przyborski died peacefully on April 24, 2026, at the age of 75.

Tommy was born on October 18, 1950, to Rosa Lee Wesolick Przyborski and Bennie Przyborski. He grew up at 707 E. 6th Street in a neighborhood where children spent summer days playing outdoors, coming home only briefly for supper, and then staying out with friends until bedtime.

Tommy attended St. Mary's Catholic School through eighth grade and graduated from Brenham High School with the class of 1968. He went on to graduate from Blinn Junior College and earn a business degree from Sam Houston State University. In 1971, he married Kay Lynn Henske.

Through high school and college, he worked in the carpet and tile business under the mentorship of John Kenjura and Johnnie Fischer. In 1979, Tommy founded Custom Floors of Brenham, which he owned and operated until 2019. Many of Custom Floors' major projects were in the Bryan/College Station area, and Tommy was proud of his work for Texas A&M University, especially Military Walk. He took great pride in the success of his business and providing for his family.

Tommy owned quarter horse racehorses with his friend and partner, Bill McMeans. Their horse, Deadly Dart, won the 1989 Rainbow Futurity, which is considered the second leg of the quarter horse triple crown. He was a lifetime member of the Brenham Elks Lodge and served many years on the Washington County Go Texan Committee.

He is survived by his wife of nearly fifty-five years, Kay; his son Jay Przyborski and son-in-law Paul Merrill; his daughter Jill and son-in-law Dwayne Riske; his grandsons Jack and Ben Riske, who affectionately called him "T-Pop"; his sister Doris Andersen; his niece Nikki Wacker, her husband Tom Wacker, and son Luke Wacker; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Russell and Lu Henske; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his aunt, Elizabeth Przyborski.

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Bennie and Rosa Lee; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Melvin and Lillian Henske; and his great-niece Genna Rose Wacker.

Tommy enjoyed having a stiff drink with good friends, and was a regular at Brenham Quick Mart on Chappell Hill Street. Some of his happiest times were spent in Mexico. For nearly three decades, Tommy took his family to Cabo San Lucas, where he looked forward to nothing more than offshore fishing. On his last trip to Cabo, he took joy in watching his grandsons reel in marlin. He went on many deer hunting trips with friends to northern Mexico, and to his final days, Tommy spoke of going back for one last hunt.

Vaya con Dios, Tommy! We hope you're enjoying a cerveza and a cigarette on the big playa in the sky.
