Thomas Colen Schooler

May 28, 1935 — May 3, 2026

Thomas Colen Schooler, 90 of Burton, died May 3, 2026.

Tom was born May 28, 1935 in Houston, TX to Charles and Helen (Vinson) Schooler. He served in the US Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1957.

Tom owned the Artisan Art Gallary in Houston. Later he owned and operated Animal-Port-Houston for many years before retiring. He was a devoted member of the Burton Heritage Society since the early 2000's, serving as President for a few terms, committee member and donating items for many of our fundraisers and offering his establishment, the Pig and Whistle Pub, as our meeting spot for many a jovial and spirited discussion about saving and preserving our local history. Tom truly loved Burton and shared stories of its history to many a traveler that came through the Pub.

He is preceded in death by his parents and survived by a nephew, Ross Michael Schooler of Hammond, LA, and a niece, Charlene Schooler Ryan of New Orleans, LA.

At Tom's request, no funeral or memorial is being held.
