Shirley A Dreyer

July 25, 1941 — June 7, 2026

Shirley Ann Randermann Dreyer, 84, of Brenham, passed away on June 7, 2026, in Temple, Texas.

Shirley was born on July 25, 1941, to Alex and Mabel (Horstmann) Randermann at St. Francis Hospital in Brenham. She was confirmed on June 6, 1954, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Sandy Hill. Shirley graduated from Brenham High School in June 1958.

On January 4, 1959, Shirley and Arnold "Bubba" Dreyer, Jr. were married at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Sandy Hill. Their wedding day was one for the books, with temperatures dropping to just 16 degrees-the coldest day Brenham had seen since 1951. Shirley loved to tell the story of how it was so cold inside the church that the water in their wedding flower arrangements froze.

Blessed with four wonderful children-Ann, Alan, Amy, and Amber-Shirley and Bubba walked through life hand in hand. Together, they built a beautiful foundation for their family, deeply grounded in faith, love, hard work, and tireless dedication.

Shirley was employed at La Roche Chevrolet-Cadillac, Inc., from May 1969 to April 1981, where she made lifelong friendships with the people she worked alongside. Shortly thereafter, she began working at St. Jude Hospital. Following the merger of the local hospitals in 1989, the facility became Trinity Medical Center. If you were admitted to the hospital between 1984 and 2006, chances are Shirley processed your paperwork and welcomed you with her larger-than-life smile. She retired on July 25, 2006, the day she turned 65.

Shirley was a proud and active member of the Brenham Business and Professional Women's Club. She was also a devoted member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Wiedeville, where she served in many capacities, including teaching Sunday School, participating in Women of the Church, and serving on the Church Council.

Shirley spent many of her years traveling with her closest friends and family. She made her way through 46 states and four countries, to be exact, collecting thimbles to add to her collection at every stop along the way.

Shirley came from a large family, where she learned the importance of cherishing every family member and celebrating every moment together. She passed those same values on to her own family. Shirley and Bubba taught their children and grandchildren that family always comes first and that you should always show up for those you love. Shirley was immensely proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and she adored each of them equally. Her sense of humor and her laugh-one that could be heard across the room-will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her children: Ann (Dreyer) Garnett and husband Joe, Alan Dreyer, Amy (Dreyer) Flynn and husband Michael, and Amber (Dreyer) Westerfeld and husband Jon.

Her grandchildren (some by birth and some by association) include Amanda (Dreyer) Naylor and husband Blake; Andrea (Dreyer) Dykes and husband Nick; Dickson Garnett; Pearson Garnett and wife Isobel; Sully Garnett and Nick Presley; Taylor Garnett and Adam Lemel; Spencer Flynn; Oliver Flynn and wife Chloe; Lucas Flynn; Andrew Malloch; Tatum (Westerfeld) Lackey and husband Justin; Gracie (Westerfeld) Hopkins and husband Tanner; Teddy Hoffman; Sadie Winkelmann; Hunter Winkelmann; Jordan Lackey; and Colin Zimmerman.

Her great-grandchildren include Hayes Dykes and Sophie and Nathaniel "Nate" Lackey.

Shirley is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Nelson and Diana Randermann; her best friend of 70 years, Patty Addicks; her "Angel" and Los Cabos partner, Liz Sorenson; along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Arnold "Bubba" Dreyer, Jr., whom she affectionately referred to as "Dreyer"; by her parents, Alex Randermann and Mabel (Horstmann) Randermann Bosse; her stepfather, Herbert Bosse; her brothers, Delphine "Sleepy" Randermann and Roger Randermann; her sister-in-law, Betty (Schlutz) Randermann; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Arnold Dreyer, Sr. and Lydia (Winkelmann) Dreyer; her grandson by association, Jase Lackey; and her lifelong friends, Fay and Don Goodwin, Wilburn Addicks, Cleburne Rau, and Gene Bothe.

Pallbearers include Amanda and Blake Naylor; Andrea, Nick, and Hayes Dykes; Dickson Garnett; Pearson and Isobel Garnett; Sully Garnett and Nick Presley; Taylor Garnett and Adam Lemel; Spencer Flynn; Oliver and Chloe Flynn; Lucas Flynn; Andrew Malloch; Tatum, Justin, Sophie, and Nathaniel "Nate" Lackey; Gracie and Tanner Hopkins; Teddy Hoffman; Sadie Winkelmann; Hunter Winkelmann; Jordan Lackey; and Colin Zimmerman.

Honorary pallbearers are Shirley's cherished circle of friends: Patty Addicks, Barbara Kohring, Jancie McClendon and Charlie Schroeder, Patsy Meyer, Barbara Poehlmeyer, Nadine Rau, and Eunice Kelm.
