Shanan Marburger

November 21, 1965 — September 19, 2025

Brenham

Shanan Gail Marburger, 59, of Brenham, Texas, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, September 19, 2025.

Born in Brenham on November 21, 1965, to Edward and Evelyn Strangmeyer, Shanan grew up with a love for people and a heart that found joy in the simple things. On July 20, 1985, she married her high school sweetheart, Mark Marburger, and for four decades they shared a life rooted in faith, surrounded by family and laughter. Just sixteen days before her passing, Mark was called home, and we find peace knowing they are reunited again.

Shanan was known for her easygoing nature and fun-loving spirit. She loved cooking, sharing a drink with friends, and took great pride in raising her two sons. She never missed a chance for a good laugh or a dance with Mark. For 35 years, she worked faithfully at Brenham Clinic, where her coworkers became like family. Nothing brought her more joy than being 'Nana' to her six grandchildren, whom she considered her greatest blessing.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Mason and Katlyn Marburger, and Grayson and Katie Marburger; grandchildren, Elodie, Winna, Merritt, Vyla, Heidi, and Jessa; mother, Evelyn Strangmeyer; sister and brother-in-law, Stacy and Rocky Ullrich; mother-in-law, Joyce Marburger; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Gary and Rocksann Marburger, and Beth and Jerry Kunkel; nephews and niece, Paden Ullrich, Reanna and husband David Arvidson, Clinton Marburger, and Cody Kunkel; along with a large extended family and countless friends who were like family to her.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Mark; father, Ed Strangmeyer; maternal aunt, Marilyn Albers; father-in-law, Marvin Marburger; grandparents, Edward and Minnie Strangmeyer and Eddie and Minnie Albers; and grandparents-in-law, Wollie and Alma Marburger and Louis and Lizzie Ganske.

Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, September 24, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham. Funeral services will take place Thursday, September 25, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Prairie Hill, 6605 Old Independence Rd, Brenham, TX, with lunch to follow.

Honorary Pallbearers include Gail Mitschke, Susie Moehlmann, Catherine Pittman Ruemke, Stacy Ullrich, Beth Kunkel, Joyce Hohlt, and her BS&W Family.

Memorial contributions may be made in Shanan's memory to Brenham Pregnancy Center and to the Brenham Police Department (Memo: K9 Program), honoring the places where her sons faithfully serve.
