Sandra Lange

May 19, 1948 — April 21, 2026

Sandra Schlottmann Lange, 77, of Brenham, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family and pastor on April 21, 2026.

She was born May 19, 1948, in Brenham to Lonnie and Ruby Wernecke Schlottmann. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill. Sandra attended local schools and graduated from Brenham High School, earned an Associate of Arts degree from Blinn College, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from Sam Houston State University. On April 29, 1972, she was united in marriage to David W. Lange at St. John Lutheran Church, and together they were blessed with two daughters, Melissa and Alison.

Sandra was a faithful and active member of Zion Lutheran Church, where she served in the Naomi Circle, church council, stewardship committee, Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and Altar Guild. She especially enjoyed participating in May Dell Mondays.

A dedicated educator, Sandra shared her passion for the Bible, reading, and literature with generations of students. She positively impacted countless lives as a second-grade teacher with Brenham ISD and Faith Lutheran School, as well as through her devoted work as a Sunday School and VBS Teacher. An avid reader and member of a ladies' book club, she enjoyed discussing books and sharing her love of reading with friends and family alike. She was also a Jeopardy! aficionado. She deeply cherished traveling and spending time with her husband, her family and friends, and especially her sisters, who were her life-long best friends and unconditional supporters. She will be remembered as a patient, kind, devout Christian, and as a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Louis and Ella Lange, brother-in-law, Willie Rosenbaum, and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Irene and Stubbs Brown, Dorothy and Lonnie Siebel, and Natalie and William Bell. Survivors include her loving and dedicated husband, David W. Lange; daughters and sons-in-law, Melissa and Drew Standley, and Alison and Jorge Guerrero; grandchildren, Lauren Standley, Ella Standley, Ethan Guerrero, and Maeve Guerrero; sisters and brother-in-law, Karen Rosenbaum, Debra and Glenn Kovar, and Linda McCulloch; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Margie and David Rountree and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Zion Lutheran Church and Sandra's caregivers at Right at Home, Hospice Brazos Valley, and the numerous doctors and nurses at MD Anderson for their compassionate and dedicated care.
