Obituary

Ruby Rodeck Ehrlund, 94, of Houston, Texas, died on June 18, 2026.

Ruby was born on January 30, 1932 in Saint Francis Hospital in Brenham, Texas. She grew up in the farming community of Stone. She graduated from Stone School District #1. Following graduation, she graduated from Brenham High School, Class of 1949 and from Blinn College in 1951. She then entered UTMB School of Nursing and graduated in 1954. Ruby started her nursing career in Galveston, Denver and Houston.

Ruby was united in marriage with her husband, Charlie H. Ehrlund, on March 21, 1964. Together they reared two children, Kimberly and Mark. She enjoyed trips to family and going to antique shows and reunions. She was a member of Spring Woods Baptist Church.

Ruby is survived by daughter, Kimberly Ehrlund; son, Mark Rodeck Ehrlund and wife, Amy; grandchildren, Cody Houston Ehrlund and Casey Elaine McFall and husband Corey; nieces, Donna Weige, Myrna Loesch and husband Russell and their daughters, Lauren Glasscock and Marley Ruth, Lorna Sommerfield and husband Jimmie and their daughter Jessica English and husband Doug.

Preceding her in death were her husband of 56 years, Charlie H. Ehrlund; her grandparents, William and Maria Rodeck and Bernhardt and Wilhelmine Tegeler; her parents, Fred and Clara Rodeck and her sister Mildred Weige and husband Wilton D. Weige.

A visitation is scheduled with family present from 5:00 - 7:00 PM on Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 West Main Street, Brenham. The funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 AM on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at Memorial Oaks Chapel with Rabbi Steve Sheek officiating. Burial will follow the service at Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to Washington County Wildlife Society or Brenham Heritage Museum.
