Rose Lee Lohmeyer, 93, of Washington on the Brazos, passed away on January 06, 2024. Visitation with family will be on Wednesday, January 10th from 5:00 to 7:00pm, at Memorial Oaks Chapel, Brenham. Funeral service will be 10:30am Thursday, January 11th at Friedens Church of Washington with burial following in the Friedens Cemetery.

 

Rose Lee was born on December 12, 1930 to Otto and Meta Noerenberg Loesch in the community of Cedar Hill, just outside of Brenham, Texas. She was baptized at St. John Lutheran Church in Prairie Hill and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Brenham. Rose Lee was married to Clarence W. Lohmeyer for over 53 years, until his passing in 2003. Rose Lee worked in the Banking industry in Navasota until her retirement. Rose Lee continued living on the family ranch in Washington, Texas until her passing.

 

She was a lifetime member of Friedens Church of Washington, Texas; serving on the church council multiple times, she was a member of the church's Women's Followship group, the VFW post 4006 Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the Sons of Hermann lodge #187. Rose Lee was an avid quilter and enjoyed spending Tuesdays with the ladies quilting circle and friends of the church.

 

Rose Lee was an outstanding cook and along with her 7 sisters, in 1999 they published their first cookbook filled with family recipes. Due to its popularity, a second edition was published. Rose Lee was always an independent person, with a deep love for her family and friends. She was a compassionate and caring person, putting God first in her life. She had two wishes in the final phase of her life - to attend the Loesch Family Christmas party and to return home and live independently; both of which she accomplished.

 

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law; Gordon and Cindy Lohmeyer of College Station, Texas, Grandson Phillip Lohmeyer of College Station, Sisters Ella Flynt of Iola, Edna Schroeder of Brenham and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Clarence, father and mother-in-law Henry and Ida Lohmeyer, brothers Arnold Loesch of Houston and Melvin Loesch of Brenham, sisters Elsie Tegeler of Brenham, Alma Kenjura of Brenham, Norma Meschwitz of Brenham, Hilda Lorenz of Brenham, Selma Wellmann of Brenham, along with brothers and sisters- in-law Bonnie Loesch, Lydia Loesch, Raymond Tegeler, Jim Buchanan, Roy Lorenz, Louis Meschwitz, Robert Wellmann, Truman Flynt, Charlie Kenjura, Charlie Schroeder, Lugene Lohmeyer, Willie Dell Lohmeyer and Harris Lohmeyer Sr.

 

Pallbearers will be - Lonnie Tegeler, Harris Lohmeyer Jr., Charlie Canatella, Leonard Dannhaus, David Wellmann, Robert Kettler, Charles Gajeske, Albert Smith. Honorary Pallbearers include - Lance Williams, Scott Bosse, Preston Boenker and her many friends in Christ.

 

A special thank you to Rose Lee's friends who so compassionately supported her towards the end of her life. Thank you to her sister Edna Schroeder, nieces Vicky Kenjura, Lou Ann Canatella and Gwen Smith, friend Terry Cambell and caregiver Linda Saunders. We would also like to thank the St Joseph's Hospital system, Acara Hospice Care and Seasons Assisted Living for their comfort and support.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Friedens Church of Washington.
