Rose Eldred

Rose Emily Eldred of Brenham passed away on December 18, 2003, at Gazebo Terrace Convalescent Center in Brenham. She was born October 7, 1919, at home in Ballard, Washington. She graduated from Ballard High School in 1938. On June 2, 1945, she was united in marriage to William G. Eldred, Jr. in Seattle, Washington. Survivors include her husband, William; sister, Mildred Rundquist of Seattle, Washington; brother and sister-in-law, James C. and Donna Eldred of Brenham; and many nieces, nephews, great- and great-great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, August and Signe Bang Anderson; brother, Birger Anderson; and sisters, Esther Caldwell and Marion Benthien. Rose moved to Brenham in 1946 while waiting for her husband William to return from Seattle after discharge from the Army during World War II. In 1946, for a short time she was a legal secretary in the law office of Julian E. Weisler in Brenham and later was a bookkeeper and secretary for an insurance agent in Houston. After her husband s retirement in 1979, she also retired, became a homemaker and throughout her life was known as an outstanding seamstress. She was a dear friend to her nieces, Kim Eldred Carper and Terri Eldred Scott and her nephew, William G. Eldred, as well as many who came to know her. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, December 19 in Memorial Oaks Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 20 at Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all of the wonderful people at Gazebo Terrace and Hospice Brenham. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Peggy Moser, Washington County Unit, 1707 S. Jackson St., Brenham, TX 77833 or to Hospice Brenham, 705 S. Austin St., Brenham, TX 77833. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., in Brenham.
