Robert Cox

It has pleased Almighty God to summon to Himself the soul of Robert Crittenden Cox on October 9, 2019.

Robert was born December 15, 1943 to C.D. and Marjorie Cox in Galveston, Texas. Bob attended public schools in Galveston and Texas City, Texas graduating from Texas City High School in 1962. He worked in the Oil & Gas industry for many years with his employment culminating with roles at S. H. Landes and finally with GDS Engineering working at the Baytown Exxon Refinery as a Project Manager until his retirement in 2004.

Bob was married to Jimmie Deane Mullen on April 25, 1964 at Trinity Lutheran Church, LaMarque, Texas, by Rev. Paul G. Wilson. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Jodi Lynn and Jeffrey Alan. Bob and Jimmie Dean lived in the Sagemont Park area of Houston for 36 years and were members of King of Kings Lutheran Church in Houston, Texas. After their retirement, they moved to Brenham in 2004 and joined the congregation of Grace Lutheran Church. Bob served on the Evangelism Committee and as a captain of an Usher Team. Bob was an avid golfer and enjoyed the fellowship of many friends pursuing the perfect game. He also enjoyed working with his cattle and horses. Bob’s favorite activity was enjoying time with his treasured grandchildren.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, C. D. and Marjorie Cox, two brothers, Stephen Cox and Richard Cox, and grandparents Robert D. and Betty Cox and John D. and Olive Stubblefield.

Surviving and mourning his loss are his wife, Jimmie Deane, his children and their spouses, Jodi and Dave Guerra and Jeff and Victoria Cox; grandchildren Luke, Paulina, Danielle, and Stephen Guerra and Ashley Cox; sister-in-law Betty Cox; nieces and nephews Mike Cox, Greg Cox, Leslie Diver, Kim Fisher, Kelli Cox, and Kacee Ramirez.

Funeral services for Robert Cox will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Matthew Jacobs and Pastor William Holzer officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Monday at Memorial Oaks Chapel.

Serving as pallbearers are Jimmie Maurer, Jack Montgomery, Darryl Lueckemeyer, Billy Thaler, Clarence Ruemke, Onis Finke, Dave Guerra, and Alan Reid. Honorary pallbearers include Dick Jacobs, Ralph Artze, Wayne Meyer, Floyd Nicholas, Jimmy Spurgeon, Hank Duvall, and all of his golfing buddies and Men’s Club members.

In lieu of floral tributes, donations may be made to the memorial fund of Grace Lutheran Church, 1212 W. Jefferson, Brenham, TX 77833.
