"R.B." Schawe

January 13, 1943 — February 23, 2022

Rudolph Blum (R.B.) Schawe, a lifelong resident of Washington County, passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2022 peacefully in his home.

R.B. was born in Brenham on January 13, 1943, the eldest son of Wilhelm Heinrich (W.H.) Schawe and Else Maria (Elsie) Blum Schawe. He was baptized on February 28, 1943.

He graduated Brenham High School in 1961, Blinn College in 1963, and went on to earn a Bachelors in Accounting in 1965, and a Masters in Business Management in 1966, both from Texas A&M.

R.B. taught high school from 1966 to 1970 then went on to sell insurance for Aid Association for Lutherans from 1968 to 1978. He began his accounting and tax firm, Schawe and Schawe in 1971 which remained his occupation until his retirement.

R.B. was involved in many church and civil organizations over the years but his main love was the outdoors. He loved his land in Real County and became known to those who loved him as a true “mountain man.”

R.B. is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Mary Louise Schawe. He is survived by his wife Beverly Roulston Schawe, his brother William Schawe, and his wife Sandra; his children Elizabeth Crow, Jacquelyn Moore and her husband Doug, Rebekah Ahrens and her husband Duane, and the mother of his children, Marjorie Krause.

He was blessed with eight grandchildren, Seth McCarty and his wife Brooke, Kaili Rasberry and her husband Colton, Rayce Crow, Scotlon Moore, Schuyler Moore, Kianna Crow, Sterling Moore, and Starla Moore.

The great-grandchildren who lit up his life were Jaxson McCarty, Sophie McCarty, River Rasberry, and Stetson McCarty.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Gary Koerth, Gary Haevischer, Alan Flisowski, Michael Meier, Leonard Bilski, and Jeff Koehne.

The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, February 28, 2022 at Memorial Oaks Chapel with Pastor Evan Cameron officiating. Burial will take place in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Phillipsburg.

Visitation will be held Sunday, February 27, 2022 in the evening from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel.

Memorials may be given to Texas Home Health or Alzheimer’s Association.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 West Main Street, Brenham, TX 77833.
