Philip Lee Edwards, 61, Burton, was promoted to eternal glory December 22, 2003 in Temple, TX. Philip was born November 17, 1942 to Vern & Elizabeth Hendrick Edwards in Covington, Kentucky. After graduating from Blinn College, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. During his service, he married Maxine Zorn on June 24, 1964. He was a member of the American Legion Buddy Wright Post #48 in Brenham. Philip is survived by his spouse of 39 years, Maxine of Burton; his son & daughter-in-law, David & Tonya Edwards of Waxahachie, TX; his brother & sister-in-law, Loren & Alice Edwards of Glencoe, AL; his mother-in-law, Minnie Zorn, TX; his brothers-in-law & sister-in-law, Mike Zorn, James & Mary Jane Zorn all of Burton, TX; his nieces and nephews, Lesley and Katy Zorn of Canyon, TX; Aaron and Will Zorn of Burton, TX, and numerous friends and other relatives. Philip is preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 25, with the family present from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 26, 2003 in the First Assembly of God Church of Brenham with Reverends David Plank, David Edwards, and Floyd Key officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery. Servings as pallbearers are Mike Zorn, James Zorn, Lesley Zorn, Aaron Zorn, Will Zorn, and Gayle Grisbee. Memorials may be given to the charity of choice. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 West Main Street, Brenham, Texas 77833.
