Philip Harvey Dunn, 90, of Brenham, Texas passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, September 11, 2019.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20 at Kruse Village Chapel. A reception will follow the service.
Phil was born in January of 1929 in Gerard, Missouri. Phil was born a middle child in a family 8 children born to Reverend Harvey Dunn and Auerola Baughn Dunn. Phil grew up in southeast Missouri, and upon high school graduation moved to Houston. He began working in the mailroom for Humble Oil Company in late 1947.
Phil met and married Paula Revill Dunn in November 1949 at Grace United Methodist Church in Houston. During these years Phil completed his Bachelor’s degree at the University of Houston and served in the US Naval Reserves. He was proud to play trombone in the Naval Reserve Band. Phil was also an active member of the Humble Oil Glee Club and loved performing at their events around Houston in the early 1950s. He was a member of the Houston Junior Chamber of Commerce. Paula and Phil had four children, but lost their second son Ralph Eric at an early age. They raised their family in the Spring Branch area of Houston.
Phil worked for Humble Oil for many years, in Human Resources. Later in his career he started his own executive search firm for the oil and gas industry. Phil was well known in the neighborhood for tinkering in his garage on cars, boats and small engines. He could fix anything. He also loved to fish. If you were lucky he would tell you a story, or sing a funny song in his lovely strong baritone. Upon retirement Phil and Paula delighted in travelling all over the US in their RV.
Phil is survived by his wife Paula Dunn of Brenham; son Revill Dunn and his wife Sara of Austin; son Daniel Dunn and wife Cindy of Magnolia; daughter Pam Dunn Trettenero of Bellville; grandchildren: Aaron Dunn, Elona Dunn, Matthew Dunn, Danielle Dunn, Caitlyn Dunn, Rachael Dunn, Harvey Dunn, Kristen Trettenero-Rodriguez, Angela Trettenero, Brian Trettenero, Robert Paul Trettenero; great grandchildren: Christopher Rodriguez, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Timothy O’Sullivan, Zelia Rose; sister BettyAnn Norton and her husband Pete Norton, brother Harold Dunn; brother in laws: Colonel Lawrence Revill and Robert Revill and numerous other relatives. Phil is preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Aureola Dunn, his sisters Wilma Williamson and Marylou Teel, and brothers David Dunn, Bill Dunn and James Dunn.
