Patricia Kirts

April 19, 1938 — February 2, 2022

Burton

Patricia Roslyn Kirts, 83, of Burton, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2022, on what would have been Lyle and her 65th Wedding Anniversary.

A visitation will be held from 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Memorial Oaks Chapel with the family present from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 13, 2022 at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Rehburg. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Patricia was born April 19, 1938 to Harris and Eunice Phelps Hayes in North Platte, Nebraska. She went to Sutherland public schools and graduated in 1956. She married the love of her life, Lyle, on February 2, 1957. While living in Sutherland, NE, Pat worked as a nurse’s aide at the Sutherland Hospital. Pat and Lyle moved with their family from North Platte, NE to Houston in 1971, where she worked for a printing company. While living in Houston, they spent many weekends camping at Lake Somerville and really didn’t want to go back to the city when the weekend was over. That prompted their move to the Burton area in 1980.

In 1981, she went to work for the Washington Animal Clinic. Known to many as Ms. Pat, she was the friendly face many people saw when they brought their pets to the clinic. It seemed like she knew the names of everyone’s dogs and cats and was considered the ‘mother goose’ to the many young employees who worked there. She grieved with many clients when they lost their favorite pet. She retired in 2012, after over thirty years of employment at the clinic.

Pat was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Rehburg and a past member of the Burton Lioness Club and the Rocky Creek VFD.

Pat enjoyed cooking Sunday dinners and spending the afternoon in the backyard with her family, Friday night dinners at Manuel’s or The Cactus, and attending numerous sporting events, school programs, and church programs for both her grandchildren and great-grandchildren over the years. She also took great care in making salsa, pepper jelly, and pecan brittle to gift to friends and family each Christmas. She embraced every holiday and enjoyed celebrating with friends and family.

Another favorite pastime was watching Aggie and Nebraska football on Saturdays. She looked forward to the Kentucky Derby and the Super Bowl and was quick to pick a favorite horse or team. After retirement, she could be found watching The Price Is Right, Survivor, or Hallmark channel movies.

She will be remembered by many for her crocheted afghans and baby blankets, along with her embroidered baby quilts that she made for many family members. The family requests that anyone who was gifted with one of her blankets over the years bring it to her service and hang it over the pew where they are seated or hold it in their lap as a tribute to her sweet and giving nature.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Leonard and Linda Kirts of Burton, TX, and David and Laurie Kirts of Brenham, TX; daughter, Belinda Dudenhoeffer of Brenham, TX; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Shirley Hayes of Channelview, TX; sister, Linda Schulz of Brenham, TX; grandchildren, Bryan and Shayne Kirts, Patrick and Ali Kirts, T J and Kaci Dudenhoeffer, David and Courtney Dudenhoeffer, Jaci and Rolando Arroyo, Kayla and Cameron Gros, and Kyle Kirts; great-grandchildren, Kooper Kirts, Kollyns Kirts, Lyle Kirts, Caleb Dudenhoeffer, Jax Dudenhoeffer, Jace Dudenhoeffer, Steven Dudenhoeffer, Adalea Dudenhoeffer, Harlea Dudenhoeffer, Kinslea Dudenhoeffer, Lillea Dudenhoeffer, Gabriel Arroyo, and Baby Girl Gros due in May; sister-in-law, Patricia Johnson of Sutherland, NE, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Lyle Kirts; parents, Harris and Eunice Hayes; sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Richard Linn; sister, Jean Molenda; and son-in-law, Joe Dudenhoeffer.

Serving as pallbearers will be T J Dudenhoeffer, Bryan Kirts, David Dudenhoeffer, Patrick Kirts, Kyle Kirts, and Steven Dudenhoeffer. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Kayla and Cameron Gros, Jaci and Rolando Arroyo, her great-grandchildren, long time family friends, Gerry Hartstack and Glyn Spies, and the staff of Washington Animal Clinic.

Memorials may be directed to St. Paul Lutheran Church of Rehburg.
