Patricia Ann Sorrells Chapman, 77, passed away July 24, 2018 in Burton.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, July 27, 2018 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine, with Deaconess Jennifer Tinker and Pastor Glenn Schoenberg officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main, Brenham.

Patricia Chapman was born October 6, 1940 in Houston to James Frank and Myrle Grace Powers Sorrells. She was baptized October 24, 1943 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Houston, and received her first communion on April 25, 1948 at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Houston, where she was confirmed in 1953 by Fr. Ralph Diffenbach.

Patricia attended Houston area schools and completed high school at Incarnate Word Academy in Houston, where she was active in volleyball and basketball. She sang in the school choir, and was a member of the Honor Society.

On October 18, 1958, she was married to James Neil Chapman at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Houston.

Patricia was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. She was employed as a real estate agent, and was involved with home daycare. Patricia also served as a wedding coordinator for family and friends who appreciated her time and talents. Her hobbies included growing flowers, as well as collecting rocks and knick-knacks.

An active member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine, she served on the church council, assisted with VBS, and volunteered at the Bridge Ministries Corner Shoppe.

Survivors include her husband, James Chapman of Burton; son and daughter-in-law, James N. III and Sharon Chapman of Burton; daughters Patti Johnson and husband Bobby of Santa Fe; Robin Chapman of Tomball; Becky Flores and husband Rudy of Palestine, and Kim Sequeria of Burton; sisters Sharon Sorrells and Cecelia Malek; sister-in-law Kathy Syptak; grandchildren: Michael Chapman (Casey); Michelle Evans, Melissa Copeland (Colin), Nicholas Porter, Krystin Parker (Cameron), Rebecca Porter, Rudi Volkman (Danny), Rachel Flores, Jacqualyn Faigle (Carl), Preston Sequeria (Aubrey), Collin Sequeria, Lorenz Tiedt (Vicki), Karl Tiedt (Jessica), Jordan Chapman (Savannah), and Marc Chapman. Great-grandchildren: Jada, Kale, Kally and Kallen Chapman, Mason Perthuis, Colton Copeland, Logan Parker, Jimmy Bunt, Alexa Faigle, Emi Sequeria, Everett and Edison Tiedt, and Ava, Layne, and Paisley Chapman. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, James and Grace Sorrells; sister, Mary Donnalan; brother, Leon Sorrells; brothers-in-law Victor Malek, Joe Smith and Charles Syptak, and sister-in-law, Johanna Smith.

Serving as pallbearers are Karl Tiedt, Michael Chapman, Jordan Chapman, Collin Sequeira, Preston Sequeira, and Lorenz Tiedt. Honorary pallbearers are Nick Porter, Marc Chapman, Kale Chapman, Mason Pefthuis; Haley, Tootie, and Brenda of Hospice Brazos Valley, as well as caregivers Pat Roehling, Courtney McGill, and Joyce Gantt.
